George Baldock RIP

Great to see so many Blades honouring him overseas.

It's a good song, but it runs out of steam a little bit.
It could do with being developed to finish the chorus off. Otherwise it's quite difficult to sing on repeat, which is what I hope happens over the next couple of weeks.
I thought there was another verse along the lines of 'there's a star man running down the wing his name is Georgie Baldock and he's the fastest thing'....may have just imagined it though

I think the kid on the guitar's version is really good.

Seen as I've put my head above the parapet...

Maybe replace the
'let the children lose it... let the children use it'
lines with:

'hear the Bladesmen sing it...
hear the Bladesmen sing it...
let all the Bladesmen sing it...

Lyrics:

"There's a Starman,
Running down the right...
His name is Georgie Baldock...
And he's fucking dynamite...

There's a Starman,
Running down the wing,
His name is Georgie Baldock..
#And he makes the Bladesmen sing#

Hear the Bladesmen sing it,
Hear the Bladesmen sing it,
Let all the Bladesmen sing it!"

---------

Admittedly the "and he makes the Bladesmen sing" line could be improved.

But they're simple lyrics and it gives the song a bit more longevity and repeatability.

I like the idea perhaps replace Bladesmen with Shorem ?

I agree we should have a longer version to make it easier to repeat. The combined effort from the last few posts (adapted above) looks good to me.

We also know forum produced chants have next to zero chance of getting sung! However, if the superb fans at Hull that led and got the Anel chant going, and kept going until we all knew it and joined in, can do something similar at Leeds, who knows?

Another point of sadness stems from how his pals and teammates of the last few years must be feeling. He's clearly a fucking gem and a big part of the glue of the group. A real culture carrier as Wilder says.

Little gems of memories such as this must be popping through their heads all the time, followed by a laugh, a smile, a cry. God love him.

Yep Morgans that's good, much better than repeating the dynamite verse a number of times

I'd been thinking about this and I'm glad someone brought it up.

As well as a fully fleshed out song, I also reckon he's worthy of two different verses. Especially when the original lyrics are particularly poignant.

Something along the lines of;
"There's a Starman,
Running down the right.
His name is Georgie Baldock,
And he's fucking dynamite.

There's a starman,
Waiting in the sky.
We're glad he came to meet us,

On that journey to top flight.

Hear the Bladesmen sing it,
Hear the Bladesmen sing it,
Let all the Bladesmen sing it!

(repeat ad infinitum)
I like the reference to the "journey to the prem" line from the song he co-wrote with Egan, but it's not perfect.

Happy to be shot down. It would forever eat away at me if I wasn't brave enough to propose it, though.

We play Leeds next.

I’d imagine Bogle and Baldock would have been close given they were competing for the shirt for 4 years and supporting each other throughout.

Not looked for any of his social media, in fact don’t know how much he’s on it, but just like the goalkeepers union, you’d expect them to have been quite close too.

I thought the same last night when I was pissed.

I wonder if we could try sneak in words Furious and Gorgeous somewhere?

He is Georgie Gorgeous
He was known as furious
That's what all all the bladesmen sing...?

Needs work 😬

I got focused on the last part of the chorus & thought that it could make use of his name as a bit of a tribute, as well as getting his nicknames in.

It’s Georgie!
Gorgeous Georgie Baldock
Furious Georgie Baldock
He played for SUFC

I've been thinking about this. What's going to happen at Leeds???

Will they do a silence? I worry there, that's that enough dickheads to spoil it. If they think the same, they won't do one, to avoid the situation.
I've already ready had "bad news about bollock" from the local Leeds twat

Love this. Listened to that lad singing it on repeat on the drive to work this morning.

Few suggestions for tweaks from me...

"There's a Starman,
Running down the right.
His name is Georgie Baldock,
And he's fucking dynamite.

There's a starman,
Waiting in the sky.
We're glad he came to meet us,

And he'l watch us flying high.

oh yeah

Gorgeous Georgie Baldock
Furious Georgie Baldock
The one and only Baldock

BTW, on Rad Sheffield this morn, a big flag fund for Furious had already raised about £4300.
Good on them, fantastic.
They've exceeded their fundraising target and any extra will be given to the Blades Memory Club and Jonny Gascoigne's children.

It's up to those donating whether they think those are worthwhile causes or whether they'd be better served donating directly now.
