If we don't go up this year and we are on Sky as much again next year then I think you could knock at least 1500 off that average

There will be some scurrying around on porktalk trying to get the gates up before the end of the season

Disagree. I think it’ll be similar, maybe a very small decrease by a few 100.

I’ll bet anything we’ll see an increase in season tickets next season, should break 20,000
Away support will be the same but maybe a decrease in pay on the day.

It’s hard to predict next season because we’ve found loads of new supporters.
The matches are consistently entertaining so the numbers should hold.

Let’s be honest, any neutrals, for example students are going to pick Bramall Lane over Hillsborough.

PorkTalk Bingo...

1. Massive Ticket Prices.
2. Poor performances.
3. SUFC giving away 10,000 free tickets per home game.
4. Bring back Eric Potts.
5. No home shirts available until Christmas.
6. Not playing in stripes.
7. Poor badge.
8. Tax dodge on home attendance figures.
9. Half decade season tickets.
10. Carlos.

Ring 'em all and win a prize....

we are well supported down in part to the clubs pricing policy
we are among the most reasonable priced tickets available
and our single matchdays are very competitive, whereas clubs like wednesday are actually pricing out the floating customer
I reckon their pricing structure has knocked 2000 off their gates , with more turning away when the special offers over

Even if we miss out this season we will still maintain our gates if we play the same way as we entertain and at good prices

I was speaking to a student yesterday who is a Derby fan but regularly goes to the lane to watch United because he just wants to see some football.

Assuming we don't go up the attendances should probably increase next season because we'll only sell more season tickets.

We are now reaping the benefits of the clubs pricing policy over the last 10 years or so. Those kids (Little BB included) who got the £10 season ticket are now in their mid teens and all the other incentives for youngsters has brought a new generation to BDTBL. Hook ,em young and you'll have them for life and that's what SUFC have done. The profile of our support has changed over the last few years with noticeably more youngsters in the crowd. If you pop over to S6, you'll probably see more over 50's. Given what the club has been through over the last few years, the support (IMHO) in terms of bums on seats has been phenomenal and (again IMHO) we have increased our core support significantly to a level where our nearest and dearest are genuinely worried about the numbers who are tipping up to BDTBL.

As a marker, look around the younger generation in the city and take note of how many more United shirts you see as opposed to Wednesday shirts. For my generation, who are in the prime of our lives:rolleyes:;), it is tangibly different to how things have been for years.

In short, well done SUFC.

If only Warnock had been more positive to his approach to games in the PL we could've had a much bigger fan base than we have now. Even our pricing in the Premier leave was good.

We should have bought [ virtually free ] the pigs and shut them down , before Mr Redknapps mate the gangster , bought them , that would have given us a bigger fan base , for years .

To say over the past 5-10 years or so my Kop season ticket has worked out between £12.50 to £14.00 ish per match I think we're getting it spot on pricing wise.
Compare with pay on the day at Matlock at £10 adults and their ST's are £180 against me having paid £288 again this season.

Sunderland fans, fair play.

It’s already been mentioned.

Sunderland’s 27,000 is a false figure as it counts all their season ticket holders who expected a good season.
Their real average is nearer 20,000 this season.

Next season their season ticket sales will be down and if they have another poor season then their gates will be around the 20K mark.

Wednesday are also seeing quite a lot of out of town season ticket holders that have stopped going.
Their real average attendance is much lower than 26K, one was below 20K this season.

Whilst the team continues to progress under CW, the style of football remains entertaining and ticket prices remain relatively low, I think attendances will actually increase next season, regardless of which division Utd are in. I could imagine season tickets easily breaking 20,000 before the start of the season, unless the team's form tails-off.

Who, other than die hard followers of the Massive, would consider paying their extortionate prices to watch, poor, boring, unattractive football, especially on an ad hoc basis? The thought of contributing to the ridiculously high wages of some of their 'stars'/mercenaries alone would be enough to put me off, as it would be if Utd were still going down the path of paying jokers like Lee Hendrie £27k/week.

BTW - I know a fair number of people who were studying in Sheffield during the Bassett era and used to attend games via a special offer (something like a ticket & a pint for £5), became hooked and still attend games home & away. Whilst it's a longer term strategy, encouraging and giving incentives for youngsters, students and those on lower incomes to attend games will pay eventually dividends, especially when alternatives are less attractive :-)

Season ticket holders would still count in the attendance, and it's not like there's a huge number of midweek games anyway
Fair point but I think it could affect non-season ticket holders who travel great distances during the horrible winter nights.

Of all the things KM may have made a mess of in his time owning the club, one thing he and us fans can be proud of his his sensible approach to ticket pricing

He's done a sterling job of maintaining and growing the fan base, even when we've been ultra shit

Hats off to him

It already stands at over 20,000 but I think the half season ticket sales pushed it over that figure. You probably knew that anyway but others may not.
The fanbase has and continues to grow thanks to the strategy of hooking potential future fans in on cheaper tickets but we’re nearing the point of outgrowing the stadium.
We need to increase the capacity sharpish and not wait until we’ve stopped up a season in the Premier as has been mentioned.
The easiest and quickest upgrade would be to add further cheaper (than the South Stand) seats to the Kop before extending the South. New customers/fans will probably not have the funds to sit in the more expensive seats anyway.
I know the planned upgrade on the Kop is not to everybody’s liking but in order to continue the momentum in the growth of our club we need to do it.
We’ve already caught and overtaken Wednesday’s fanbase, now let’s leave them far behind.

On a cold February night I predicted 24,000 last night so to get over 25,000 was very good, especially as QPR only brought 200-300 fans (fair play to them)

With regards to the comments for getting the youngsters down to the games, my Grandfather first went to BDTBL due to tickets given out when he was at school, he was still a season ticket holder at 93 before he passed away a couple of years ago
