A really touching gesture from both sides to observe a minutes silence for the horrors that have happened in France and then that prat has to go and shout "vive la france". Such a distasteful think to shout , has to be centre of attention even at a moment like that.

I had absolutely no problem with that at all.

I wondered when Gary would start getting it. The tea lady is untouchable so it's the ball boys next and then we'll have hated just about everyone and everything at the club.

Right, the ball boys: one of them really took his time when we needed to get on with the game, second half. Useless prat.

As for Gary, he's not almost never to my taste, but I think he does his job - which is to voice popular (at the Lane) opinion - very well. Vive la France covered it.

How on earth anyone can see this as egotism is beyond me.

What an utterly and ridiculously strange thing to take offence to.

Vive La France!

Gary seems to have pretty awful taste in music (if he's responsible for some of the crap that gets played) and sometimes he makes me cringe, but I actually think that he done a superb job whenever he's been asked to deliver eulogies for passed players and fans, or for Remembrance Day and such. I missed the game today, but there's nothing on the face of it that would make that phrase even a little distasteful.

Get off his back . He generally does a good job and as other posters say he's bloody good when the subject matter is a very serious one . I am sure he meant well and I personally took it that way.

Exactly right.

I always make this point whenever Gary Sincalir is criticised... Remember what it's like when Sinclair Is away during a match day, when that OTHER Bloke gets to work the PA microphone..... You know the one I mean, the one who sounds like he won a Church raffle to work the mike for a day.

You mean the one that sounds like he is reading off an auto cue but he can't fuckin read

Wow....that passed most of everybody by....

What's wrong with "vive le France" isn't that what the French resistance used to say in world war 2.... If it's good. Enough for them when faced with war, then it's good enough today isn't it..

The music he plays has no place in a football stadium.. 60/70s music to plug his knocking shop. We need uplifting music

I've just tried on my phone app to see translate Vive la france into english and it comes back as Vive la france?
Anyway Vive la france

  1. "French Expression of the Day: Vive la France ! Pronunciation: [veev la fra(n)s] Meaning: Long live France! Notes: Vive la France ! is a patriotic exclamation that you might hear on Bastille Day and around the time of French elections."

Someone posted Viva le France which is a kind of mash up of French Resistance and Cuban Revolution.

Che would be pleased.

(Can't make the le/la difference work, but I'm sure it has a purpose.)

Gary's heart is in the right place, I will never forget him trying to read the eulogy for Derek Dooley, and about half way through, his voice cracked and he was trying not to cry, a touching moment.
His finest moment was the Pink Floyd tribute to Gary Speed ,he was very good to my lad when he came back from his first tour of Afghanistan. I like him ,in comparison to other grounds ,the pigs used to have Stevie fucking splash and that chuffing railway station announcer that Liverpool use to send you to sleep.

Maybe the OP thought it was'nt politically correct eh?

Well said Gary Sinclair.

There are move afoot to sing the French national anthem on Tuesday at the England v France game.

Somehow I think that is a fitting response and whilst it will be fuck all to the IS perpetrators - it should at least send a message out of solidarity.

We should also, just this time, consider not singing "God save the Queen"

It should, if adopted be a moving experience.

Come on FA - do the right thing and at least promote the singing of "la Marseillaise" - words on the score boards before anyone says they don't know the words.
