Upsetting the opponents.
Hmm. Let me think.
When I go away to lets say, The Sty. They put on Jeff Beck's worst ever creation and it makes my stomach churn. Same with Z Cars at Everton etc. All have their things for their team. Do visiting fans get their stuff played "out of respect"? No, it's down to who is visiting who's castle.
GS didn't say that comment to upset any Snowflakes that may have travelled from Birmingham, but in support and adulation of the home team.
They are always asking the crowd to be our 12th man, not be "respectful" to the visitors to make their lives more comfortable.
Are we not allowed humour in todays society?

Why the hell can't the announcer be biased towards the home team FFS. Its all part and parcel of home advantage as far as I am concerned. I'd have no problem with the Villa announcer saying the same at their place, if the situation was reversed.

Sinclair is a blade and was as thrilled with what he had witnessed as the rest of us were. PC fucking shite every where you turn.

In the rush to decry "PC gone mad!!!" "snowflakes" etc etc, you've not noticed Chris Wilder was not too impressed with it also. Why give Villa any ammunition to come out firing at us 2nd half, or in the return game at Villa Park?

Give me Gary Sinclair over whatever the hell that was today

Apart from being hopeless at what can't be a difficult job, a southern accent sounds so wrong.

We recognised the writing was on the wall when he implored the crowd to make some noise for the reds and white wizards at ten to three and they didn't appear until turned five to.

He welcomed me to beautiful downtown Bramall Lane about 6 times

Of course he wasnt great but lets not be too harsh on him. Hes learning only on his 2nd game. Far better than that horrendous posho few yrs ago better suited to polo & boat race. it unfair to compare to a guy that been there 30 yrs (guessing). No one comparing frank lampard with Sir Alex Ferguson

As i said on the shoutbox. This holidays can be good because we can take him for granted. As 1 of comments said above. away grounds show how lucky we are. most are hired voices with no link to the club. Puts your hands together & welcome *looks at sheet* Doncaster Rovers

Didn’t think he didn’t too badly. Made a mistake by saying Sheffield United before Preston when the teams came out but other that he was alright. Wasn’t helped by the 4th officials board being shit either. And he’s a blade so alls good.

Honestly thought he was a competition winner or something. Absolutely shocking.

He's Ritchie Pearson, or summat like that, and he's a DJ on Radio Hallam. He's a top lad - I've met him. Devoted Blade and really nice kid. However...

Let's cut him a bit of slack...

Sinclair, like him or loathe him, is a class act.

Ritchie hasn't quite got that sense of "accomplished" that Sinclair has.

The big faux pas today was when he announced the teams as they came out. He made a premature announcement about "making the noise for Sheffield United", but they weren't coming out.

Then when we did come out he got things the wrong way round.

He said, 'Welcome to Sheffield United and Preston North End". Wrong way round Ritchie!

It's, "Welcome to our visitors Preston North End, but make a big cheer for Chris Wilder's red and white wizards, SHEFFIELD UNITED!".

He also made a mess of announcing the substitutions. And he got too close to the microphone so it cut him out at times.

Apart from that....

Err..

He's the reason there was six minutes extra time, due to his fake confusion about who was going on and who was coming off and the laboured pronunciation of their names.

Clearly a time wasting tactic orchestrated by Wilder and Knill and the ref saw straight through it ;)

He announced the rest at the end which was marvellous, Bert had no idea that we'd won 3-2.

"the result" I think Bert meant.

yes, I noticed that as well.

A bit like the other "John Collier" tailor's dummy we had as an announcer a while ago. Who insisted on telling us the score, like we may have not noticed it!

If you are reading this and are ever invited to be the announcer at a Blades match in future, please note one important thing...

THE BLADES FANS ARE WATCHING THE MATCH. THEY KNOW WHAT THE FUCKING SCORE IS!

He announced a substitute when there wasn’t even anyone warming up or ready to come on.

I think you mean when they scored, they had someone ready to come on who then went and sat down after the goal.

Unless there was another time.

Ah, that explains it to a degree but surely you wait until the linesman puts the flag up for a substitution before you make any announcement?

Lundstram not in the team, late winner after throwing away a lead, this poor sod saved Wilder from some grief tonight.

That's the one. They were going to make a sub, but didn't bother, yet he still announced it anyway.

Agreed. I did mean to finish that post with, he still shouldn't have announced it though anyway.

It would appear most people who like Sinclair like him because .... he's better than other announcers. Hmmm.
I don't compare what he does to what others do, but what he either should do, or how it would be if he didn't do it at all. Does loud music, so loud you can't talk to the people you've come with add to the atmosphere, or detract from it? What announcements do we actually need - a bellowing voice over the PA system during play is very distracting - I can't imagine it's great for the players. I'm of the opinion that less is more. I don't think Sinclair understands that principle.

So has Sinclair been sacked for mildly mugging off that fat cunt Bruce ? Fucking disgrace if so, should be promoted given Bruce will soon be receiving yet another large ‘redundancy’payout awaiting the next cash-rich mugs to employ him

He was at a wedding.

Attending, not a gig DJing.
