Sharp and Dids have shown consistently that they are the main men, in general.

That said, Madine will get pitch time as a sub, and it is possible for him to play the lone striker role, with 2 of Dids, Duff and Dowell in the 10 role. Most likely away from home and against certain opponents where this tactic may work better I.e. being more front to back from the get go.

3:4:2:1 instead of our more usual 3:4:1:2.

Not read you piece yet but Sharp and McGoldrick look a fantastic partnership, so deserve to keep their places.

The only possible exceptions are when we play a team that we think will sit back and defend in numbers.
So Madine might be the preferred starter when we’re at home to the likes of Bolton, Rotherham, Ipswich, Reading etc.

However I’m basing this on what I’ve seen of Madine in the past, ie physical presence player, good at heading.
However Wilder does have this skill of making players play better than their normal standard,
so maybe Madine might start playing like Messi up front and be a regular for us. Wilder never ceases to surprise me.

I had to laugh the other day...was talking to a Wednesday fan and he said he thinks Madine could be a good signing as he’s similiar to McGoldrick.....I thought WHAT.....and had to explain that McG isnt a target man or a natural goalsscirer but he is a really intelligent, great awareness and good passer. The Wednesday fan said that Madine is also intelligent on the ball, great target man and good at laying it off, decent passer. Didn’t know what to say ha ha.

I would imagine that it firstly depends on how he performs in training, and then whether his inclusion is the right choice tactically for any particular game.

This is pretty much my exacts thoughts on how he will be utilised.

Brought on as a sub if Plan A (Sharp & Didz) isn't working or the opposition literally have 10 men behind the ball or away from home as a lone striker against the better teams if we want the ball to stick up top instead of coming straight back at us and with us flooding midfield.

Reckon he’ll get his first start at home to Bolton. As all they will do is put 10 men behind ball, and win everything in the air

Love a Madine thread, hopefully we can get 1 a day for the rest of the season, that way, we definitely won't forget him.
