Even if the bid from us was accepted the minute Celtic came in it was game over.

Celtic didn't come in until our third bid,by then Dundee United could have got themselves a couple of hundred grand instead of getting rid of him for nothing.We gave this a chance to happen when we shouldn't have.

For all we know Clough could've heard that Celtic were talking to him so thought why not lob in a couple of cheeky bids. Surely DUFC would rather take something rather than nothing.

My point is nobody on here knows how long we were tracking him and how many other clubs are/were. What I do know is that Celtic and Us wont have been the only clubs tracking him, we were the two the press got wind of

Apparently Milwall had agreed a price of £175k for Pringle earlier in this transfer window but the deal stalled due to differences in the contract talks.

£175k for a player of his ability is and would be an absolute bargain

Trouble is/was, like most on here my take on GMS, my attempts to judge the player have been restricted to a couple of minutes video footage.

I see he had earlier trials at English clubs but was found wanting, so there was no clamour to sign this guy this time round. I wonder if that tells us something we should take heed of? The video footage was impressive, but hardly a way to get a sense of the player's overall capabilities. Maybe Clough's reticence to spend was based on what he saw?

What I meant was - there's no way a player of his calibre was only being watched by two clubs. He's had a reputation for a few years now so will have been scouted regularly by many clubs. You must be able to see that?

Celtic are like one of those 5-a-side teams who literally rip the shit out of every team they play. They win all 14 games in a season by like 5 or 6 goals. The reason being that they're all ex-Hallam or current Meadowhall premier league players.

If they wanna get their kicks from beating players like me and most others (people who can only dream of reaching their standard) then I just laugh at them.

We used to play against a bloke at goals sumat Hague, used to be on the books at Wednesday, he's lost more skill than I've ever had, yet he used to turn up on a Wednesday night at goals going down at the first sign of contact.

People that choose Celtic (and Rangers of old) over England have no ambition in my eyes. Maybe not League 1 but we clearly have the potential here.

I don't think it's SUFC's fault. It's Mackay-Stevens. You can't deny the Champions League bit, but take that out of it and he's playing teams that are no better than SUFC. Only Celtic would do well in the Championship in England. They wouldn't even finish top half in the Premiership.

Well I have read some guff and this is up there. Firstly have a butchers at the SPL league table. They aren't running away with it. They don't hump teams 5 and 6 every week. However my main point is he gets to play Champions League football at Celtic. Assuming he does have ambition then he wants to play against the best players possible. Let's not pretend he will get to do that with us.

My argument all along is we pitch in with embarrassing bids which alerts people to our interest. Then we play transfer tennis so everyone and his dog knows we are interested, then if finally the player is any good then someone better will have ample opportunity to do business.

For me you put the money on the table and stop doing it half arsed. That is our mistake.
