Who do we think is better? GMS or Jamie Murphy?

Murphy was in the matchday squad but in and out of the team.

If anything he'll go down the pecking order now, not up.

He was unplayable at times. I think he'd revel in a free role.

By all accounts he liked Sheffield and left with no ill feelings.

I remember when he left some on here suggested his reason for leaving to further his career was bollocks because he was "only signing for Brighton"

There are definitely some on here that need to take off the Blades tinted specs!

For what it's worth, local news up here in Aberdeen are reporting they've missed out on Gary MS because he's coming to us.

Based on their form in Scotland I'd say GMS is the better of the two.

Still does not offer the pace option that we require, such a pity that we could not gave kept chapman, can see him being areal threat for Middlesbrough next year.

How many guys do we need in the 10 shirt?

10?

That would confuse teams wouldn't it? They'd be thinking that we would line up 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 but no! We'd just line up 10. Get all the players to link arms and run after every ball together. I'm surprised no team has tried this tactic.

There you go then...proof!

Spent many years watching and coaching junior football. It's what I was thinking of when I wrote that. Hilarious to see them young uns all running after the ball at the same time.

Gosh, it's like a Hercule Poirot plot this isn't it? Mancunian Blade twirling his moustache and noting that the mention of "representatives" fits with Wilder being away on holiday, so the evidence is building!

Thing is, we tried to sign him before, so he's been on the radar a while. We won't be prepared to buy him out of his contract, because that would be expensive, so we are trying to weedle him out of the club on a loan. This way we run down the contract period a bit before we have to stump up the cash to buy him.

He's never really cut it since joining Celtic, for whatever reasons, I gather he's had only a few chances under the current manager. YouTube video's show him exhibiting amazing ball control and skills - but then again, the same could be said for Flo Cuvelier.

I'd like to see him signed on loan. I think that's best for us. We can make our own judgement then as to whether he's any good or not. I'm pretty sure Celtic would prefer to sell him outright though.

He would give us something we haven't really got, flair with the ability to play in the hole and on the wings cutting in to either provide or score goals. Duffy is now a similar player in some aspects but from what I've seen GMS has the potential to be a lot better with the added bonus of being younger, meaning we could make money on his signing if we were to ever sell him in the future. These are exactly the type of players I like us to sign.

Forget that he can't get in the Celtic team, they're on a different level to us and he is easily a Championship player at a minimum.

Would we sign Ricky Holmes as well?
Surely it is one or the other?

Possibly using the talks with GMS to drive forward a deal with Holmes if he is the preferred choice.

I'd prefer GMS based on him being younger and also being a better player from what I've seen anyway, although getting both would be great as Holmes has a really good set piece on him which could be vital in some games next season.

Lad at work is a Celtic fan and says he's a bit lightweight and gets a kicking in Scotland so may be more suited to the Championship.

Looks a bit like Chris porter! !!!!!

I thought exactly that too mate! The resemblance is striking!

Wilder said he wanted two wingers so I guess that's GMS and Thomas with Holmes been the number 10, competing with Duff?

GMS isn't an out and out winger though so it all depends on what Wilder classes as a winger, whether he now wants two wingers or not, or whether or not he is indeed after GMS in the first place.

I look forward in anticipation as to what we end up with after all our transfer dealings are done.

I think we've started our transfer dealings well already and good quality players will hopefully see our club as an up and coming, ambitious Championship club, going places to enhance our bargaining position in the market. Also, if players see us hold on to our key players then this will only bode well for the future and will be very refreshing indeed for our club. Sorry to blabber on mate. :)
