On the contrary, Hodgson would be well advised to consider his advancing years, before ‘innocently’ obstructing the quick throw in, a common tactic employed by many an opposition manager. A role that now sadly, Woy should consider delegating to a younger member of the management team.

Silly old twat 😉

his passion for warhammer keeps him tactically sharp and young at heart, the dugout is his garrison and the pitch just another battlefield

Does he actually watch any games or just look at who scored goals and who won and then have a random guess at a team?

I think even the most ardent Haaland fan would say that despite managing to score he had quite a frustrating afternoon where he was hardly involved.

Yes the turd that won't flush that is Garth Crooks seems tl be able to spin this as some sort of triumph to shoehorn him into his nonsensical team anyway.

He really is a first class tit, isn't he?

He's a very strange little man. What bollocks he thinks up inside his head is just a waste of the electrical signal needed to fire up the thousands of neurons needed which lead to thought formation. Clearly his neurons have gone on strike and have been since the 70s.

Looks a right weirdo when he bends his head and looks the other way waiting for a response.

Like he's auditioning for Different Strokes.

I fucking hate the ugly, thick bastard!

The only reason he has a job with the BBC is because he's black and he helps with their quotas. If he were white, he'd be out of a job immediately, because he's absolutely useless at his job.

Whilst I would love to say I think your post is a load of poppycock, I have to say I am in full agreement with you. It's the (mostly) unspoken truth in this instance. Most people don't give a hoot what skin colour someone is provided they do their job well. He has been winging it at the BBC for far too long to make it seem that he is there only because he is good at his job cos clearly he isn't. Which make you think maybe there is a reason he has remained on the payroll and a nice cushy number.

He was imo the tick box, but now with Richards who’s infectious and witty, Williams, Wrighty, Jenas, Defoe etc, do we really need this poor man’s Simon Jordan spouting shite he thinks is insightful, whilst most who consume it do do somewhere between amusement and hatred

Diogo Dalot (Manchester United): What a strike by the Manchester United defender. The two-touch finish was as clean as I have seen from a full-back. It was a pity for Sheffield United as this was the best performance I've seen from them this season and I thought they were worthy of a point. Manchester United meanwhile continue to splutter their way through the season, picking up points here and there without playing anything like the football their fans expect. Come to think of it they haven't done that for some time.

Cameron Archer (Sheffield United): There's no doubt about it, the finish by Cameron Archer was against Wolves brilliant.

His overall performance was also impressive, although I didn't think Sheffield United were quite so convincing - the penalty awarded to the Blades I thought was a dive and very fortuitous.

You can't doubt the team's effort and collectiveness, but if manager Paul Heckingbottom is going to have to rely on undiluted passion and determination every week in order to win the occasional game, then his players will be burnt out by January.

Will we ever see the likes of Tony Currie blowing kisses to the crowd again having set the match alight? Or players with the skills of Alejandro Sabella playing the most gorgeous football? Or are those days over at Bramall Lane? I sincerely hope not.

Although great for a bit of acknowledgment every now and then the formation part of his story is bollocks but let’s not look at that. Comments wise he sounds like he has rocked his memory banks when he potentially could have played against us with Spurs but if I am right by 1980/81 Currie and Sabella had both gone to Leeds. Crooks played for Stoke in the 2nd Division until 1980 moving to 1st Division Spurs so not quite sure what he is getting at. There have been some dark days at our club (a lot before my time being born in the 80s) but for me those comments of undiluted passion and determination refer back to our old “traditional” hard to beat Bassett/Warnock days off hostile crowds, hoof ball and they don’t like it up them. Rather than the skilful potential of so many of the unnoticed likes of McAtee and others.

For what it’s worth here is my opinion for Garth Crooks - Dinosaur sack him off, he played in a different era and he clearly doesn’t do his research and is out of touch with the modern game and anything really below the “top half”. I am sure he has his uses on BBC Stoke radio or Spurs TV but he has claimed George has “dived” (cheated) to win the penalty which is a poor “non-biased” side note. Although I don’t bother with MOTD he still mentions the words “dived” and “booked” see how many times they are mentioned in the Laws of the Game. I qualified as a referee in 2001 to earn some side money on a Sunday to “fund my habit of the blades” even then it was caution not booked… time for a change and clean out for the BBC in my opinion and get rid of these pointless, outdated clowns that “earn” a living

Played for Stoke against us in 1977/78 and 1978/79 seasons

Crooks played in an era when teams like Stoke and United could challenge for honours, those days are gone unless you've got very rich owners or you've got a special recruitment system like Brentford and Brighton but they've still spent money to bring players in and will have a higher wage structure than we do. We have to accept seasons like this will be rough in order to bounce back next season if we go down. I would love a rich owner but often these rich owners don't deliver as much as you think they will, there's a few of those in the Championship, Wednesday one of them.

Back to Crooks and we did have a player of Currie's ability last season in Ndiaye, not going there again on that debate but we've had players of very high ability since Sabella and Currie. He misses out Deane for example, David Brooks and Glyn Hodges. They might not be Tony Currie but all had incredible ability as did many others. He's probably never even heard of Vass Borbokis either.

“Must have hit maximum words. I assume it ended, but then again they had two penalties not given before that so nobody can say it want deserved.”

If that have been a top 6 club it would have been “he makes the ref make a decision. Once you go for the ball and don’t get it, that’s the risk you take. It’s soft but there is contact.”

So when someone gives us some praise like all the mardy arses on here are crying out for (while simultaneously forgetting the entire media 2018-20) he gets called patronising.

If he left it there it's praise....

Unneeded patronising/reality check, if you are putting your team of the week together discuss the player you choose, the reasons why he did well etc but I personally think no need for the follow-up comments.

In contrast to the below

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United): Love him or loathe him, you can't ignore him - Bruno Fernandes is too good a player.

The Portugal international pulled Manchester United out of the fire with a touch of class when it mattered at Craven Cottage. It would have taken a special save to have stopped Fernandes from scoring the winning goal but Bernd Leno couldn't live up to the billing, which was unfortunate because at this point Fulham were worthy of a point. Fernandes didn't just provide the winning goal, he saved Erik ten Hag from having another week full of speculation about his job and his ability to manage United. A true captain's performance if ever I saw one.

When you put less emphasis on the opinion of people you think are a bit of a cunt you stop being as bothered about what they say.

If you put MOTD on and want them to embrace the emotional attachment you have with United you’re going to be disappointed indefinitely.

If Dante's Inferno were ever to be given a modern reboot, one of the circles of Hell would contain Garth Crooks pontificating on matters football for eternity, while the souls of the dammed sprint through to the preferable torture next door of having salt rubbed into a never-healing paper cut on your bellend. The pompous, clueless, arrogant fuckwit.
