Not one fan agreed with the sub or if you did, you forgot to clap. Just saying
the manager gets paid to make decisions like that yes most fans thought it was a negative move but it worked a treat as there was some tired legs out there and freeman gave us some and can play further forward than just fullback clough held is nerve brilliantly when a lot of fans had given up fair play to him.he wont always get out of jail like today but he knows what he has on the bench and will use the ones who can have an impact great point in the end.

As I have to be selective about matches I attend due to work commitments, this sums up why I prefer a long journey to an away match than a trip to the Lane and attend matches accordingly when able.

I'm not saying everyone at home matches moans, and everyone is super positive away from home, but there is a big difference a lot of the time.

The difference is going away , is day out with the mates , and watching a football match with the blades . At home you expect more imo.

Why do I so want this to be true?

The suit and booted being drink induced and actually creating a ruck . If it happened anywhere else in the ground , i could see a banning order coming . Directors box is a place for decorum , which is sometimes hard to keep , for the match day guests . Arguing about the Coventry manager , who does need to learn a little respect.

For me, there is slightly less expectation away from home, and add in the points above, it makes following away a different experience. I love visiting opposition towns and pubs and grounds. I also love coming to BDTBL. Ain't it great to be a Blades Fan?

getting some passion from the directors box about time o_O

Yes for me the sub did seem odd but it was probably that freeman was coming on rather coutts coming off. Even though he has apparently played there a bit to me he doesn't look comfortable. He only seems to lay it back to brayford and never looks to get the full back turned which means the full back can get as tight as he wants really. But what do we know we haven't played professionally x

Myself and the guy next to me discussed it. I said freeman looked decent when he came on down the right on tues and he'd played that role at Bristol c.

My thoughts were that he'd work well with Brayford and he has a decent cross on him. Guy next to me didn't agree. First few minutes he said can't see why the freeman sub was working, but at 2-2 he said fair play to Clough

Clough has an extremely flexible and adaptable squad

There was a bit of a grumble in the shitbox about the substitution under the guise we needed another forward on. I can't understand how if your not there you can criticise a live substitution happening at a game you can't actually see.

Obviously Clough became a tactical genius as the second went in :)

Isn't this what makes watching dem Blades great, I along with the majority of fans was slightly bemused with the freeman sub, I was calling for Che Adams but hey thats why I sit in the stand and not standing in the technical area, doth my cap to clough today, 10 men for 80 mins, 2 down and somehow grabbed a point. We move on now to Tuesday, strange but feels like a win today.

Forget the substitution, we want to hear more on the Jim Phipps dust-up

My take on it at the time was what the hell is Clough doing . Afterwards - oh i see now. Thats why i am a blade with blinkers and he is the manager . Like with player recruitment , team rotation , he knows what he is doing.

Dronny , i also felt like it was a win psychologically.

I'm assuming the two events mentioned in the thread are linked. Putting two and two together:

When Freeman came on, some bloke behind shouted "we're losing 2-0 so you bring a fucking full-back on."

A bit later on, there was a stand up disagreement between a chap with a United coat on and a chap with a United hat on, to which the stewards got involved. Mal and Jim then went to speak to the man with the hat on.

And when we scored, Garner directed his ire at us who sit behind the dug-out, because he obviously thought the grief had come from us - when it hadn't. It'd come from one of their sponsors.

In my view there are 2 types of draws, winning draws and losing draws.

Yesterday was definitely a winning draw!

Signing Ched and nobbin off a sponsor might have been a plan after all?

It wasn't one of the club sponsors sitting where they were - it would've been a member of the party with the matchball or matchday sponsor.

Don't be too hard on yourself dronny, if he had brought on Adams may have won 3-2,lol.

Directors box is a place for decorum , which is sometimes hard to keep , for the match day guests

I sat in the directors' box once. It's a long story - I'd written in to complain about something and I was invited along with my children, then aged about eleven and nine, as guests of the club to a home game against Preston. Completely blotted my copybook - and hugely embarrassed the kids - by shouting abuse at the ref after some outrageous decision.

It clearly wasn't the done thing.

Bit harsh Alcs. He's not really a wide player and did much better when moved inside at County. He did look lethargic today and played as though he was carrying an injury. All in all, I like what I've seen from him: very comfortable on the ball, plays with his head up and rarely gives the ball away. I reckon he'll be a player for us.

I agree ..... I think Coutts looks a good player, looks up for a pass, holds the ball well and tackles. He didn't look at his best yesterday ( could that be cos he's carrying an injury) but he was not the worst of our players on the pitch and at least he remained on the pitch !! Baxter needs to reflect on having cost us 2 points yesterday with his foolish jumping in !!

Coutts has contributed more to our midfield in 4 weeks than Scougal has all season imho.

Maybe I'm being too logical, but I assumed that Coutts was either knackered or injured when he went off .... turns out that the latter was the case. I never considered he'd been withdrawn to go more defensive and I thought Coutts had a decent game if not spectacular. Wasn't easy with only 10 men against what was a "pressing" team of 125% players, not much quality apart from Fleck.

I'll suggest that if Coutts had been here 6 months and performed like that, he'd get a good deal of stick.

I think many are, perhaps fairly, be giving him the benefit of the doubt. He offered practically nothing yesterday.

Well ... sorry mate but I must have watched a different game.
Coutts in our midfield offers loads more than Scougal who has been getting a shirt all season doing "nothing".
I think he will do well for us going forwards .....

He was not involved at all. His general touch was poor and his workrate really low. I don't think he beat a player once. It was the same at County, anonymous. The best measure is the difference it made when he was replaced - a complete change.

I agree I think he'll add something for us. His ability can't possibly be reflected in what eve seen so far, and Clough has seen it first hand.

It's hardly controversial as Clough removed him and changed the game. My real question is why play him with injury when his performance was clearly so limited.

But as you say, you saw it differently. That's football.
