I used to really like him as a player. That volley he scored against Forest will live long in the memory.
Will never forget that game. We got mullered for almost all the game yet somehow managed to keep the score at 0-0 then up pops Taylor on about the 80th min with an absolute belter of a goal to win it for us 😂. Think Dave Bassett was in charge of Forest back then (🤔). Also, got to mention Pierre van Hooijdonk, what a player he was on his day.

Was a brilliant strike (and yes to Bassett):

As someone who follows the WSL the timing of Taylor's sacking here is a bit surprising - they're in a cup final this weekend (!) and seems odd to move on from him now with not long until the end of the season. From the outside I think he's done a pretty good job but I can understand that they want to try and find a manager to take them to the next level and properly challenge Chelsea, especially given how much City invest in their women's team. He does seem to be a well respected coach in the women's game though, a lot of journos who cover the WSL seemed surprised at the move.

Timing does seem odd.
I wonder if there have been problems behind the scenes? Taylor has had a fall-out with Chloe Kelly, and there have been hints from other players that their relationship with Taylor isn't great.

Was that the game where he thought he was being sold and ran round the ground at the end waving his shirt and waving to the crowd or am I confusing it with a different game?

The youthful JD thought Taylor could develop into a premier league striker.

Turned out he couldn’t. If anything his touch deteriorated over time.
I’d love to know what happened to his proposed move to Utrecht.

When I say love, of course I mean I’m mildly interested. It’s not something I lose any sleep over.

Until now at least!

Think playing Chelsea 4 times in next 12 days and potentially 4 defeats may have something to do with it

Warnock wanted to BRINGIMBACK in the early 00’s. Got Pesch or Asaba instead.

Not sure, for some reason I was sat on the away end and made a quick exit at full time after almost blowing my cover when we scored, so I never saw what happened after the final whistle mate

Remember one game shortly after we,d sold Deane and Fyortoft , Taylor was about all we had left upfront and was absolutely garbage ( aside from the ageing yet still class at times Saunders ) kept hitting shots and missing sitters one looked easier to score . Stood up and shouted you're wank Taylor to then receive a headbut from my then mate sat next to me for saying . Cant Remember who we played against or even if we won . Truly hurt my soul knowing we'd kept him and sold the other 2 , Fucking donky

He still owes me a training top, as a youngster i used to ask for it every home game he always said next match, rinse and repeat
