I can only think of about 3 at the Lane

Oldham in the 80's because of an undiscovered bomb, Reading in the 2002/03, and tonight, although i'm sure there will have been loads more.

Can Darren help?

December 8, 1990, Derby County. About 2 foot of snow. We hadn't won a game. Postponed and played on FA Cup 4th round day instead by which time we had signed Glynn Hodges and he scored the winner.
Very fortunate postponement and I hope for similar this season!

Millwall at Home, just after christmas, just after Kendall took over.

Won the rearranged game 3-1.

Bradford in early 80's [Could have been promotion year ??] , Travelled over to hear the good news in Sheffield yet Toytown up the road played at home v Newcastle bout 100 of us went to see the match if ya know what i mean. ;)

2-0 :-) 13/2/96 (Veart, Hutchison).

The home game v Oldham that should have been played on 29/12/92 was also postponed.

There was one quite recently around 2008-2009 ? A Saturday game and remember it well as I heard the postponement on Radio Pig around 14:15 while I was driving down City Road. For some reason, Norwich rings a bell.........

That'll be the game that should have been played on 13/3/82 in the D4 season.

In a slightly different vein, when was the last time we had a match abandoned part-way through due to the weather?

Take it you mean home games?

The Bury game obviously got postponed two weeks ago

My Dad told me about a friendly versus Villa that was called off. It was bitterly cold apparently so my Dad and his mates stayed in the pub. A while later Blades fans flooded in because "it looks like Andy Gray's broken his neck!"

It was abandoned at half time (I think in January 1987) and we were leading 1-0 (think Foley scored). Gray fell awkwardly on the hard pitch at the end of the 1st half and play was stopped for a long time. When both teams lft the field the fans assumed it was half time until it was announced through the PA that the game was abandoned

Home game versus Burnley on New Years Day 2003 was postponed. I know as I travelled from Manchester for the game, only found out when I turned up at the Lane. What a tit!

Home games only (not mentioned above)

1st December 1973 v Ipswich- snow
4th February 1978 v Stoke - waterlogged pitch. It was supposed to be Haslam's 1st match
2nd December 1978 v Blackburn - snow
6th January 1979 v Aldershot (FA Cup) - snow- my dad and I went to watch Wendy v Arsenal. The teams returning to the pitch for the 2nd half was memorable as the fans in the kop rained snowballs at Pat Jennings (he was catching them at first but got fed up and refused to go to his goal). Jack Charlton was furious and walked towards the kop to tell them to stop throwing the snowballs but the fans threw even more snowballs at him which made Jack show more despair in his face and then he sulkly walked away. Brilliant!

I think the New Year game against Burnley in the 2002-03 season got postponed due to the pitch being waterlogged

I remember when not so long ago, we used to get matches called off on a Saturday, and the only thing to look forward to was whether we won according to the Pools Panel. It used to get a modest cheer when we did!

Orient away in the Cup a few years ago. Went on a pub crawl round Walthamstow instead and had a much more enjoyable day out than if I'd had to sit through United for 90 mintues in the middle of it.

Was it Reading in 2010 early December?

went to southampton in the 60s only to find game off at 1 o'clock!

I can recall 3 extended periods where we played little or no games due to a big freeze.

1978-79: no league games between 30/12/78 and 6/2/79 (though we played 2 games against Aldershot in the Cup in that period)
1981-82: no games between 5/12/81 and 2/1/82
1985-86: no games between 1/2/86 and 8/3/86

I can remember two consecutive visits as a kid to London games in the early 60's that were postponed. The first a FA cup match at either Arsenal or Spurs (can't remember which),cancelled due to snow on the pitch. The second to a water logged Stamford Bridge.

The trips to London were not mean feats then, 5 hours in a coach down the old A1 before the M1 was built. Both were mid-day Saturday postponements after we had travelled and arived. Since those experiences I have a lot of support with early postponements for the sake of those that travel.

I remember arriving in Devon for a weekend away in the late 80s or early 90s an being told that the match with Plymouth was off due to a flu bug.

I really can't remember ! although I have the feeling it was before then. I've had a quick look on Soccerbase and it doesn't look like it was a Norwich game......

Got a feeling it was a waterlogged pitch that did it too.......

I think yo'ure getting mixed up with the postponement of the Cup game at Orient on 3/1/09. We played Norwich the following Saturday and then the rearranged Orient game on the following Tuesday.

I was driving down City Road when it was announced on the radio, so it was definitely at the Lane.

The lack of confirmation on here though from several people with brilliant Blades memories is making me think it was a Lucid dream :)
