McWobblegob with his shifty air and spouting of general nonsense - Oh the way we were...

As Paddys always said, if his mouth is wobbling, you can assuming he's talking bull.

3rd September 2013 - almost THREE years...

Sheffield United owner Kevin McCabe has revealed that the club's new co-owner is Saudi Arabian Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The Blades announced last week that a foreign investor would be joining the club's board.

Since the club's announcement on Friday, David Weir's side, who are currently sitting in 17th position in League One after five games, have signed Stoke midfielder Florent Cuvelier for an undisclosed fee and Manchester City striker Harry Bunn on loan.

In recent years the club have been forced to sell players, including full-back Matt Lowton to Aston Villa, midfielder Stephen Quinn to Hull City and striker Nick Blackman to Reading.

McCabe is confident the new investment will mean the club are able to keep hold of promising youngsters like England Under-21 goalkeeper George Long and defender Harry Maguire.

"The plan of action is simple and that is to improve the first-team squad whether that be through the loan system or in the January transfer window," he said.

"I would also say to our supporters that this also ensures we can keep our own young players, hopefully on longer contracts.

"We are going to look to make shrewd signings at the right time, with the strong belief we will get promoted not only from League One but with a squad that can gain promotion from the Championship."

Wibble.

- He's transformed us from an upper championship club, to a established League One side.

Then sells Harry Maguire a year later.

Perspective is needed and I think clarifications/ revised statements have been made on several occasions since 2013, at least to try and manage expectations. There are some that choose to take a walk back through history and select the soundbite to suit them. Fair enough. However, its sometimes worth providing the summary of the revised statements or activities…

McCabe and the prince did indeed talk of Game changing investment – The revision of this statement was given based on the fact that we didn’t get promoted. It has been stated several times that money is being pumped in to get the club financially competitive in League 1. The game changing investment will kick in once we are in the Championship.

Managerial Appointments - Actions taken by McCabe and the Prince have, I believe been done at the time in good faith and the intention being to always move the club forward.

Weir to Clough – Results were shit, Clough had a decent record and was the right fit at the time.

Clough to Adkins – Despite his cup success, Clough was eventually measured on Promotion and personality.

Adkins – Hailed as an absolutely brilliant move by almost all fans and experts. Even Pig fans couldn’t admire this one. Couldn’t have been further from expectation. Nobody saw it being as bad as it was. Perhaps the right man at precisely the wrong time.

Wilder – After Adkins and Clough, we need a man to clear the decks and get some life back in the side. Right decision at the time

Investment in the team – Upon the start of the Prince-McCabe partnership, we invested in Baxter straight away after we sold MacDonald. Baxter had been successful in this division. Clough was backed financially. Adkins too, but on the provision that he reduced the squad size. We still Brought in his man, Hammond. Wilder has been backed too, but perhaps in a different way. Clearing the decks will have cost money. I don’t recall us forcing out any of the young players, but we’ve not exactly nailed them down to stay.

I'm not sure since the Prince-McCabe partnership was formed we've been lied to, but perhaps expectations were too high to expect us to get out of this league.

If i had a crystal ball, i would never have sacked Wilson when we did, but that was pre-prince and it seemed like he'd run out of ideas...

And after all that we are left with average L1 players on contracts that will make them the core of the team for the next 2/3 years which supports Kozzy_is_my_Dad's point. We are an established L1 club.

Here's the rub, you're both making valid points and it's theses scenarios that is causing friction between blades.

The one thing either of you fail to do like every thread and post on here is put forward a compelling way forward.

Fact we are an average L1 side now and with the players and manager we have look like staying so for the foreseeable future and that is making everyone's piss boil over.

I can anticipate someone asking me what the answer is. TBH I haven't got the faintest idea, that's way above my pay grade. Worrying thing is I don't feel the current owners, manager or players know the answer. God I hope I'm wrong cause this is killing my satdi's.

The way forward. Back the manager and be patient. If he's on a 3 year deal, give him 3 years.

Would you advocate that with N#1 and N#2?.

If we had I think things could be even worse. Not saying it was all their fault it could be that McCabe is the toxic element in the equation.

But again I don't know!

Edit, pretty sure we would be up shit creek with N#2 and that took 99.9% of blades, media and experts by surprise.

I'm a confidence supporter and my confidence is about on par with George's at the moment and I can't see us winning a game at Lane all season under these players and manager. One feckin shot on target in 2 home games.

They could be even worse than they are at this moment in time? Almost proping up division 3?

Hindsight
David Weir - No
Nigel Clough - Yes
Nigel Adkins - No

The Caveat would be that there must be progress in Season 1.

Foresight
Chris Wilder - Yes

TBH Swizzler I'd agree with that assessment (N#1 might have work eventually) except Wilder, just not getting the right vibes. He really appears to epitomise the doing the talk but not the walk saying.

I hope I am sooooo wrong but my confidence ometer sez I'm right.

Yep. Where he works his magiC and some of his biggest keyboard critics queue up to kiss his arse.
About time he was given a hard time. From the transcripts they do all sound like arse kissers not prepared to ask the searching, blunt, in yer face questions that radio pig jurno's fail to ask

I can't be arsed to go as I've seen first hand at the Lane what happens if anyone dare criticise Mcabe during a game.

That's the trouble. The only ones who do are usually pissed an an embarrassment. The others act like simpering little girls meeting Bruno Mars.

McCabe isn't going to give a fuck about criticisms on a messageboard, in fact he isn't even going to see them.

If everyone who has a gripe about the ownership stopped venting on the internet and actually made themselves a visible presence, you might, just might effect a bit of change.

Three games mate, you may well be right but he needs the time to see... like any manager
