Do you really think ST holders get a great deal at the time they pay their money 3 months in advance of the new season ?
It has already been questioned on these forums with the amount of 'deals' the club does throughout the season is it worth getting a ST does it really save you that much money.
It does not bother me the amount of deals that the club offer non ST holders Iam am quite happy with that but it seems some non ST holders dont like us getting the odd sweetner as a reward for paying well in advance. Your point about non ST holders being encouraged for one off games (eg cup games) doesnt really hold water as there are enough deals for League games to entice fans who work away cant afford it or new fans that may become ST holders

season ticket holders definetly dont benefit eg hartlepool had a deal on last season consistent st holders got one for 150 quid and if they intoduced a friend the frjend got one for 100 qhiquid it shoukd have been the other way round

I don't think you're having a go at all, I think it's a difficult one and it's nigh on impossible to get the balance right.

Football in Sheffield is pretty family orientated in terms of who you support, so the fanbase is purely dependent on that in my opinion. People losing interest is more likely to be because we're shite, rather than the ticket prices. We're actually pretty cheap compared to alot of clubs. Student prices are good and we get our fair share coming to watch with us being in the city centre too.

In football, you need to look after the fans that are paying week in week out because it's your hardcore base. You might think that it sends the wrong message in terms of attracting new people, but loyalty is thrown in your face by clubs and supporters everywhere. As someone who has been a ST holder for the majority of his life, if I suddenly found out that I didn't get a discount compared to people who've decided to get one for the first time, I'd be pretty pissed off personally.

I agree Daz but (as an STH), I would be happy for lapsed STHs to get early renewal price, albeit in a different seat if their original seat has gone.

Often people have to stop their STH due to unemployment or leaving the area for work etc. If this went back say 5 years, I'd be OK with that. Anything to increase the paying fan base IMO

If we had won the games after the Villa game I think we would have doubled that. I am going under duress on Sunday. I really can' be arsed if I am honest.

13k reminds me of the Villa game 10 years ago so hopefully it's a lucky omen.

At least we'll have plenty of room to spread out.

terrible!
i thought we would have at least got 20K?

I bet Jim is very disapointed with these sales as he really wanted to get the ground full.

Im guessing there may not be many more 'deals' as this would have cost the club quite abit in lost revenue.

I expected about 16k Fulham will bring SFA its on TV its an early ko on a Sunday and its not a tie that gets your heart pumping with excitement is it ?

Be cold though won't it.

People saying it's on TV, BT doesn't really count. I don't know anyone that has it or any pubs that show matches on it so I can't see it having a huge effect on the attendance.

If anything has done it, our piss poor league form has put paid to a big crowd.

I'm watching it on the Telly box. I would have gone but have put my back out and can't actually sit down for that long at the moment.

I'm not that surprised as most don't regard Fulham as any kind of "giant" waiting to be slain. I think it's a combination to do with a crap ko time and day coupled with a draw that is a bit meh and a couple of thousand probably with tv access. I'm not very excited and expect us to lose, for example.

Big Jim has confirmed that ticket sales so far are 'a little disappointing', and further behind than anticipated, but are hoping that there will be a shot in the arm tomorrow and Saturday.

Meanwhile all us Blades can do is pray for a shot on goal on Sunday

I reckon the crowd will be a fairly respectable 18 or 17k. Maybe 750-1000 from Fulham, and another 4000 tickets sold Friday and Saturday and a few pay on the day.

I'm missing "Clueless" on Radio Sheffield for this!

Honestly, how many do you think have got BT, or does it come free with your phone or summat similar?

Radio Sheffield is Clueless isnt it !!
You can get it free with BT broadband, free through Virgin Media and theres plenty of pubs got it so its not hard to find someone or somewhere thats got it if you want to watch it

What is this thing you call the BT sport? I thought BT made phones and that?

I expect BT sport to grow in to something competitive. Tagging it to their broadband is a good start. Shame the broadband and general BT service is absolutely average but they've spunked enough money on the TV rights of the footy to make a good fist of stealing some coverage off sky. Competition wise it's good, and they shouldn't do a Setanta.

However, on a broader scale it's fattening the Premier league to everyone's detriment. It's not sustainable and maybe BT are just taking some of the risk off the table from Sky when it does go tits up. By that I mean look at Bolton who were believed to be steady campaigners but really just amassed a club busting debt while pretty much doing fuck all. ... And that's what every club in the land is supposed to aspire to (the premier league, not £160m of debt)

League one is where it's at baby. Even the championship is being spoilt in terms of competition now the parachute payments are so vast. Only clubs with the sheer honesty to be as shit as us and wolves were are flying the flag for philanthropy.

Why is anyone surprised by this?! It's televised and we're in January.

If we get anywhere near 18,000 that's a great turnout. I'm going with the family, looking forward to it.

I'm looking forward to it as well - we're a win - win situation.

Not expected to win, TV money of some sort and a day out with mates drinking beer and watching the Blades!

Shame it's at bleeding Sunday lunchtime!
