since its snowing and games are being called off and we have Fulham on the horizon

does anyone remember us playing Fulham around 1977/78 sort of time at the Lane when the pitch was frozen??

all the players wore those Adidas rubber soled boots with the grooves across them with 3 lime green stripes.

I think George Best played for Fulham and we got like a 28000 crowd

They wore white shirts/red shorts/black socks

cant remember the result or much more but i do remember those Adidas beauties !

Frozen pitch was in February1979 (Tommy Smith scored for us in the 1-1 draw) but George Best wasnt playing.

28,000 crowd was in October 1976. Bobby Moore, Rodney Marsh and George Best were playing for Fulham, 1-1 draw, great goals by Woody for us and John Mitchell for them.

A year later George Best played again at the Lane and we won by 2-1 with goals from Chico Hamilton and Woody

I remember the Fulham game when Best/Marsh/Moore we’re playing. All three were at the end of their careers at that point. Besty was for me the greatest player of all time, incredible ball skills, could head, tackle, and score amazing goals. His legs couldn’t get him up and down the park any longer so he stayed around the centre of the pitch and sprayed the passes to his team mates. Wow what a player.
