In the EFL 3 divisions, only one club has a better average attendance than us.
Who is it this clue will give it away, they play in red and white stripe shirts?
Lincoln lol seriously I've been following Sunderlands forum since they knew they're playing the pigs they've sold 40k which is an unbelievable achievement, they have a lot of single seats dotted about available that's pretty much it.

I don't doubt that Bramall lane would sell out a lot faster if there wasn't around 500 restricted view seats. In the Pukka pie/John st corner that means behind a wall which is ridiculous ................ which idiot thought of pulling seats behind a brick wall?

Yes it would sell out faster if we had fewer seats 😉 the seats with a full view of the pitch get the Kop noise and a good view. I'd say it's probably better than the other corner tbh

As for sales being "pathetic" 31k for a game at 12.30 is hardly pathetic. Some premier league games won't be getting 31k this weekend. Also attendances don't win you points... If they did we would be top of the table 🤔

So United can pretty much sell out a 12:30 kick off in the second tier these days. That's progress in terms of crowds.
This season will be a record average attendance for a Sheffield club in the Championship on the back of us averaging the highest average for a Sheffield club in the Premier League.

Sunderland.

Who currently appear to be our pals best friends at the minute. Doubt they will be in a weeks time, whatever the result.

Is that a record from when the second tier last changed its name 22 years ago? Or is it a record from the time before that, the name change that occurred 30 years ago?

Whatever, it isn't a record for the English second tier - it's another Sky Sports artificial record. It could be a 'Championship record' or a 'Premier League era' record' or even a 'this century' record depending on wherever the numbers fit.

not bad to say we have massive neighbours down the road.

It's the highest second tier average attendance for any Sheffield club in 70 years (or almost 3 generations).

"We used to be MASSIVE Great-Grandad".

Looks like tickets are selling well, unfortunately, we will be 68000 short of the away attendance at Sunderland, but, should be pretty full.

I find it very strange that both teams agreed to have just 2000 away fans at each game. The Stadium of light holds 49000 fans.

Home advantage innit'

Both won the home game in the league, both pretty equal in the league standings, it'll be an interesting double legged tie as a neutral.

When we played Sunderland in play offs at the lane ,I remember coppers sticking about 1000 of them in John Street...
These were in days when we only half filled the ground ..

There have been moments over the years when I’ve considered asking to switch my ST to those seats. Never underestimate the value of seats at Bramall Lane with no view of the pitch.

A bit like the defibrillator, or anti-venom for snake bites. You never know when you might need them.
