Frustration

I will certainly worry if we have a central midfield of Quinn and Britton, and Ertl at RB again. I've got nothing against the 4-5-1 if it's with good attacking wingers.

Simonsen

Kozluk - - Morgs - - Nos - - Jordan

Ertl - - - - Monty

Ward - - - - Britton - - - - Yeates

Evans

That would be my side. I dream of having a right back in by Friday close of play, and hopefully Nos and Jordan are fit.

Nearly mine but I would but Nos at right back and Bartley alongside Morgan, anyone but Kozluk at Rightback

Sounds like both Nyron and Jordan could be available. I think Nyron would be a cert for RB, not so sure whether he would throw Jordan straight in.

Yeates will be chomping at the bit for a game and whilst I'd have had him in my team at the start of the season, he's not really done enough so far to justify a start. He might be far better thrown on for the last 30 mins so I reckon it'll be as Saturday with Nyron for Ertl.

I suppose Nos for Koz makes sense, but I'm not sure he's nearly as good there as at CB and I'd worry about losing his best attributes from the middle. That said, I think we can be certain that a new right back will be brought in within a couple of weeks, so it's not a long term issue (hopefully).

Cannot understand anyone wanting Kozluk in their starting eleven at championship level. He simply isnt good enough.Nothing against him personally but i think its a waste of a years wages.

you see the knockers now have another player to pick on, - so will they renew or not?

My reasoning was simply because we don't have another out and out right back at the club at the moment. Ertl was outrageously bad there against QPR. Nosworthy was shaky there last season on the couple of times he played in that role. Bartley I think would be as skaky as Ertl. At least Kozluk knows the role. If I'm honest, Lowton and France would both start in front of him if they were available.

That said, I think the Calve thing is a goer and hopefully he'll be fit enough to play on Sunday if the transfer can be wrapped up by then.

In his career Noz has played more games at RB than CB. Sunderland bought him as a RB and later converted him. The thought of The Joke being preferred to him at RB is absurd.

So here we go. Who is the joke?

It's another one of those hilarious nicknames, bestowed by somebody who knows more about professional footballers than professional football managers, despite not being employed in professional football themselves.

Oh, how we laugh.

Unless it's that fella with the make-up that Batman is always having tiffs with. I'm not too sure to be honest, all this hilarity, wit and wisdom is like being at Stephen Fry's house.

And Sunderland supporters thought Nos was a joke until he was converted to RB. Additionally, when he played there last season for us he was generally poor.

I agree that Ertl had a stinker on Saturday. But surely second game of the season we shouldnt be having to play players out of position. We've had all summer to sort things out.Blackwell stated that he wanted his squad finalised by the time we toured Malta in July. That tells me that he was happy to go with Kozluk at right back when he isnt good enough. With all the out of contract players and triallist we had we should have been able to come up with something.Surely.

I really hope we don't see Quinn, Monty and Britton in the same midfield again. I suspect we will, though.

I agree - our midfield on Saturday was Quinn Monty Britton Ward. Far too small and lightweight for the Championship. We were steamrollered in midfield and this is not likely to change if these 4 play together again. Quinn is also not suited to wide left as he constantly drifts inside and leaves the fullback exposed.

We desperately need a right back (Ertl isnt one of those) a centre mid player with strength and a bit of pace AND a striker with pace.

Certainly need a big change from the QPR game. Fitness permitting I would go for:

Simonsen

Tea Lady / Nosworthy(or Calve) - Morgs - Bartley / Nosworthy - Tea Lady / Jordan

Ward - Ertl - Britton - Yeates

Evans - Cresswell

Play football on the deck to feet, keeper to roll ball out to fullbacks where possible.

Blackwell was trying hard to sign Bodnar and Calve through the summer, and I'm sure there were other irons in the fire. He also played Lowton at right back in the first match, and then played Ertl in the second.

Whether Blackwell didn't follow through on his aim to have the full squad together for the first match isn't really relevant; it's clear to me that he never saw Koz as a starter.

Then why sign him on a twelve month contract. Why not use that wage money elsewhere.Isnt there anyone coming through the academy who could have filled in,in the short term?

I'm confused. At the start of the season, Koz was third choice - behind an academy product who actually started the first game. The thing about Koz is that he covers both left and right and will be absolute peanuts. Don't get me wrong, I think he was a silly signing and is not good enough for either full back position. That said, I can see the logic and don't think the signing stopped us from getting a new right back.
