Beattie's done nothing since his return, but wes very good when he came on yesterday. It is about opinion, but a report that doesn't acknowledge that yesterday is one too heavily based on emotion, not what actually happened. In my opinion....:)

if evans had not had the sort of season he`s had-beattie would have been our main striker,of that im sure.

Wilson no good at signing players? Phillips.Clarke, Williams,McDonald.Flynn and Hoskins were excellent signings. Unluckily,Hoskins picked us a double hernia and, unlike Marshall and Antonio,we were unable to sign Phillips and Clarke on long term loan deals.

But don't let this get in the way of trying to find an excuse to slag off DW

Okay. We differ in opinion. This is a forum, and it would be boring if we all agreed. Imagine being on Man United's forum where all there is is a general wankery agreement on how ace life is?

But Beattie - yes. I acknowledge, he 'mixed it up'. But so did Ashley fucking Ward, for no sum result in many areas. Beattie is and will remain, a prima donna. He's back to cap his career and in honesty, a bloke with his pedigree, Premiership and England alike with buckets of goals and such a keen footballing acumen, I'd say now we have our goal machine banged up, I certainly wouldn't be leaning on an iinept pairing of Hallers and Porter as a means of sustaining our momentum. Why is he not starting at least? A two goal lead yesterday would have bummed Stevenage, big style, and all we'd have to do is lean on their midfield and make them chase the game. Why is Beattie being preserved for the last ten? If he is that out of condition/past it/injured/unfit, what the fuck were we doing signing him back on? Has he scored yet? Yesterday he had a cracking waist high volley pop up at ten yards and managed to launch it into the family corner. I see him as a waste of resources. Either play him, make him make a difference in the game or fuck him off. Lets not forget what he did on his return when he got sent off. Not exactly a thing to lay down the palm branches at his feet for.

I agree with you that Beattie has been very much a luxury item for us but it was blatantly obvious the pairing with Cresswell scared the Stevenage defence to death. They must start the next match and if fate decrees the play off games too!. O Halleran should never even get near the bench and can be replaced with Philliskirk.

Marshall doesn't play for Wednesday any more. McDonald played over 30 games for us(don't forget he wasn't with us at the start of the season),Williams is a permanant signing(assuming you weren't being sarcastic) and is currently out with a facial injury,it is not our fault Hoskins has picked up an injury but would have been an ideal replacement for Ched,Flynn is a young player who obviously has potential.

I thought Hoskins was a very good loan signing and as you say it is hardly the fault of the club or Danny Wilson that he has a double hernia. That is just what you call pure bad luck, and at a very bad time for us.

Actually I'm concerend about Wilson's signings overall. Only McDonald is an undisputed good signing. Philips too, but only on loan. Porter is crap, players like Flynn will leave us an above average 3rd division team. Hill and Williams look poor, Hoskings didn't do anything, though to be fair Evans' form limited his chances. Beattie has been a dead loss.

Overall, not a good crop so far.

Your rating of McDonald is one of a man who's emotion as getting in the way of his objectivity.

Same here alco. Incidentally anyone know why we only signed Macca on a years contract? Because of his previous history with injuries?

Pompey ... not sure if you are tracking the local press down here (i.e. very possibly not) but once the door opens and they drop, I doubt it would be for long. Stuff is happening for them. See, Southampton suffered practically the same fate a couple of seasons ago and next season will be playing PL footy, just like we should be. Coventry are similarly placed, with a fairly good set of players who will undoubtedly do something like Charlton did this season.

This is the bit that gets me. Watching Soton on Saturday, we were reminded of the shit they were in. I remember going to The Dell, 15,000 crowds and no hope. But then, in a turn of luck that constantly eludes United, they get a brand new stadium built for them, the crowds double and, unsurprisingly, the results pick up.

And of course they're not alone. Coventry's Ricoh, Brighton's Amex, Leicester's KingPower, nee Walkers etc. etc. And how would Bolton etc. compete at the top level without the gift of a free stadium? It must be nice to be able to channel most of your income into players.

As much as a lot of people hate them, Man. U have spent decades building up successful teams, only to see Man. City have it dropped in their lap. It could happen with Wednesday...

Probably a combination of injury record, disciplinary record and lack of games in recent years. It was a gamble for us for those reasons and a gamble for McDonald dropping permanently into the third division.
