Bit of a piss poor night, wonnit?

I thought we were value for money football wise. We outpassed and outplayed the barcodes but to be honest, and here's the switch, every PL manager will be taking notes tonight, big style. Set up 5-4-1 and sit deep and stop Sheffield United in their tracks.

Our team selection was a gamble with Billy starting. I don't think he looks anywhere near as good as he has and I think that might be the last time he takes the first kick of a game for us. Impact sub or swap for knackered Moussett on 80 minutes from now on. McBurnie is still nowhere near his price tag, because those chances he has should be buried. That's what you pay £20m for. His showreel was pretty wavy hand and this is the proof. I think Swansea have had our kecks down with him. He has to get above double figures now come May to stop him being 'the striker we shouldn't have signed' and appearing on someone's 'Which players did you think we signed that would be ace but were fucking shit and a waste of money?' list on here in five years time alongside Phil Starbuck and other nightmares. The back three looked like they'd just had an international break at times, and they were effectively playing against one person, the imposing Andy 'always in the camera shot' Carroll. He did, in fairness, bully them a lot. Bash looked uncharacteristically frail, especially against Maximinimidi. The rest of the Geordie attack though was powerpuff. Norwood did boss the middle of the park but the thing I could not figure was where Fleck and Lunny were meant to be. Both had poor/middling games and failed to impose. The central three just didn't get hold of the midfield effectively although in fairness, Newcastle didn't let them either. Out wide I think Stevens and Baldock struggled but George at least got stuck in. Up front we were just not there.

So what happened?

Their first was a peach of a header ... crept into the corner with Hendo at full stretch. But Bash should have been all over him. Maximinimidi shouldn't have been able to get such a good contact and it's this which makes Bash somewhat questionable at times. It was clear 'switch off' and us looking vulnerable not stopping the cross in the first place. The second one speaks for itself. Carroll wasn't offside and I doubt Shevey would have made it unchallenged or not brought down/red card had the linos flag not gone up. After that, we looked beaten as fuck and sans ideas as Newcastle tried to break out, failed/lost the ball and reset their 5-4-1. Other PL managers now know what it takes to stop the passing game and stop the marauding centre backs and above all else, stop us scoring.

Yes, the lino has to take the rap for fucking our game in the end. His mistake cost us,but Wilder should/will have the solution. We are where we are, and it is considerably further up the top flight in English football and the best league in the world than we would ever think, two weeks from Christmas. We dropped three points tonight, it won't be the last time we do this against teams technically inferior to us. Chin up, do some pressups and get out on the pitch on Sunday and play a different game and destroy Norwich.

Henderson 6/10 Not a lot to do
Baldock 6.5/10 Did okay
O'Connell 6.5/10 No chance to get forward
Egan 7/10 Our best player
Basham 5.5/10 Looked fragile
Fleck 6.5/10 Couldn't settle and iimpose
Norwood 6.5/10 Dominated midfield, but only because they let him
Lunny 5/10 Practically invisible
Sharp 5.5/10 Not good enough at this level
McBurnie 5/10 Not showing his value or pricetag

McGoldrick 5/10 Couldn't find space
Mousset 6/10 Again, hemmed in
Freeman 6/10 Grafted and possibly needs more playing time

Wilder 4/10

Amazon Prime 2/10 Having a fucking biased, bad-speaking, protozoic, piggy cunt like Waddle was priceless. He didn't have one good thing to say about us and after an hour, I could well imagine him sat with his pants round his ankles, cock in hand, knocking one out over his beloved fukken-fukken-fukken geordie wankers. Elsewhere, it was plain to see that Amazon got what they came for - ladling praise on Andy Carroll, having Rio Ferdinand (ex-NUFC) and Jermaine Jenas (ex-NUFC) as pitchside masturbators. All they needed was Sid the Sexist and the cats of Auf Wiedersen Pet and possibly Alan Shearer all jizzing into the same handkerchief which St Steve of Bruce has mopped his scrotal face upon. They must be popping the corks at Amazon HQ tonight.

I'm relieved they didn't start on the disadvantaged Shelvey again and all the challenges he's had to face. Ugly bastard. He's uglier than that Sky commentator who used to play for West Ham.

That sums it up! Who was the blond bird with Jenas and Les Ferdinand pitch side? I was sat on South Stand but couldn't make her out.

Carole Whittaker or summat.
She was ok but I still found her annoying.
I like Kelly Cates, Laura Wood, Bianca Westwood and Gabby Logan is v good but many of the other female presenters appear to me to be there for a quota rather than what they bring to the role.

There’s a lass who commentates on MOTD who is so high pitched I find her irritating.

Agree with Pommps, about the Newcastle love in and that twat Waddle on co comms. Thought the whole experience on Prime was pretty grim. But a lot of that may be to do with the disappointment of the way the game panned out. Would have been so much better if Twaddle had had to eat shit, the limp haired, Geordie, Wendy gimp bastard.

A few corrections to my rant

Stevens 5.5/10

It was the other Ferdinand I can't be fucking arsed to remember the first name of, not Rio.

Anyway, him and more black and white jizz-bolts, being fired all over the pitch. Sample quote from Twaddle:

"Woah, bonny-lad. Fukken Newcassul hav defended reeeely fukken well ternite, man-woman-man"

Ten minutes later

"Ey pet. Newcassul are defendin' reeeely well tenite, have-a-fishy-ern-a-little-dishy-when-tha-booert-cums-in-mind-pet."

Ten minutes later

trumpet solo from "When The Boat Comes In"

Ten minutes later

"How, man! Tell yer sumthin'. Newcassul have dun reeely well defendin' ageeyanst Sheffyuld, two-cans-er-coakah-coalah, a' a pakkit ehr rer-lers, pleeese, pet!"

Ten minutes later

"The fog on the Tyne is all mine all mine ... "

Ten minutes later

"Nice and deep, Steve. That's right. Pull mah hair!"

Stupid sand-dancing fucking piggy cunt.

ROFL that had me howling, exactly what I was thinking during the game aha

Do you really believe that PL managers are going to prepare their teams like they’re playing Barcelona.
Jos Luhuky and Steve Bruce in the Sheffield derbies both showed the blueprint of how to get a result against us.
We totally dominated both games but really struggle to create chances against teams that play anti-football tactics and pack out their defence.

However we are in the PL, the eyes of the world are watching and there’s a drive to be open, expansive and entertaining.
Unlike in league 1 and the Championship I cant imagine many other PL clubs playing us and deliberately parking to bus, like they are from the lower leagues.

Their two most famous supporters clear off to Australia for a month in the middle of the football season.

On watching Newcastle last night I don't blame them.

Well at least its Norwich and worse they could have done there was get Delia Smith commentating. Thank god for Sky.
Oh wait we have Watford on Amazon day - John Barnes ?? :)

“Those chances he has should be buried” and he has to get above double figures to not be the striker we shouldn’t have signed? Take a chill pill Pompey.

The lad is 23. Marcus Rashford has played up top for a better team and only hit double figures once (admittedly will this season too).

Give him a chance. And try and relax and enjoy it while you do!

The thing is these tactics (when a number 10 is included) were created to overcome teams in L1 and championship who park the bus. We then adjusted tactics for the prem to go to a flat 3 because we knew teams would come at us a bit more and really hit us hard on the counter. But it doesn't make much sense sticking with a flat 3 in midfield if a team in the prem is going to park the bus and their counter attack is no more than lumping it forward to a lone striker.

Having not gone because my partner in crime, my daughter, was terribly Ill, we had the joy of Amazon.
I think the pinnacle of the terrible commentary was 'if Andy Caroll scores tonight, it will be the biggest story of the season....' - really ???? In the season of VAR, Blades pissing over everyone's predictions, Jose coming back to manage a shit Spurs, Man City way behind Liverpool - the player who was involved in the worlds worst ever transfer deadline day scoring a goal would be the biggest story of the season?
The tone was set when they advertised the game as 'Sheffield vs Newcastle' in the week, shortly before inviting every ex-Newcastle player down for some unbiased opinions. 'Newcastle have been outstanding defensively' 'they have nulled Sheffield', apart from the three or four chances that we should have scored, putting the whole squad behind the ball and yet still having to rely on the keeper to make a fair few big saves.
Amazon wasnt for me I am afraid.

Precisely, the 541 is all about counter acting the overload of the centre half. I remember Arsene moaning that teams used to play in a particular manner that was ‘anti football’ because Arsenal were ‘oh so football’ and it wasn’t fair. Well, football is about tactics and good teams adjust to counteract the other team, and we didn’t. There’s no obvious right way to play football in my opinion, and there’s nothing finer than seeing a team adjust something to go and win; Arsenal failed to do it and teams sussed them out, Newcastle demonstrated that we need to learn to do it and quickly. That’s where we see a ‘proper’ good coach earn their corn and sadly Bruce did that on Thursday.

I thought I was hard done to being at the game, but Amazon fucked the Blades TV watchers a new one with that line up. Deary me you couldn't make it up 🤮🤮
