I haven't really looked until now at our friendlies and seriously WTF??? No home games, 4 in total (i don't count malta as its more of a training session) why don't we have a good fixture?? Just looked at pigs and they have 7 friendlies 5 of which are steady teams so i ask why do we never have a good side? plus any new players will not have played at the lane until the opening game of the season which is now Burton, not to mention some loan players could be cup tied so they will be thrown straight in against Shrewsbury.

Agree it's crap opposition but at least there are no home games.

Can't stand home friendlies and I'm sure we never used to bother with them.

Crap gates and it just takes the edge off the first proper home game when you traditionally get your first glimpse of your exciting summer signings and there's even a whiff of (admittedly temporary) optimism in the air.

The home friendly is essentially replaced by the first round league cup game.

You need a first team before you can have friendly fixtures at home.

Not sure we will have a first team by the time Burton arrive.
e.g. Westlake deal seems to be a month away according to Warsaw and no one knows whether KMac will have made his mind up by then either.

Looks like we are viewing that League Cup fixture as our main warm up game for the season.

They aren't great admittedly.

That said, just bought tickets to the Toytown match and looking forward to it. Not least because I'll be able to walk to the ground in less than 5 minutes door to door...

Actually, really glad to see the Morecambe game. My wife's from there so we can combine a bit of a family get together, with a seaside day out for the kids and catch a probably uneventful Blades match to boot. Cheap as chips on the train (with our Family & Friends Railcard and which is actually direct from Bradford so no messing about), which importantly means I can also have a pint or five too :D

Can't really go wrong really ;)

A day that only the football could spoil :D

direct from Bradford
There's a reason Morecambe is also known as Bradford by the sea.;) It is to Bradford what Cleethorpes & Skeggy are to Sheffield.
Only Bradford is a bit less dilapidated than Morecambe. No, REALLY, it IS!

LOL - s'pose so in fairness - that said, my wife ain't been back for a bit so if you're right, she might be in for a bit of a shock  Nowt that several ales won't cure though...

It's a perfectly good pre-season.

3 new grounds and against teams who are likely to do their best to beat us/test us so won't take it easy = decent workout fitness wise.

Would have preferred another Scotland/Ireland trip mind :)

Don't we normally plan a home friendly very late into Pre Season to tie in with the Open Day that normally happens year after year..

If i remember correctly, didn't we play Estudiantes in similar fashion?

well a. we dont' have any players and b. we soon won't have a ground
that's probably got something to do with it i reckon
