This squad has been together for so long and I feel we've become stale.

I think we need 4 or 5 new players to come in and freshen it up a bit. If that means a few have to go then so be it.

It seems very same old, same old to me. Players just carrying on from last season.

Doesn't matter if these are loans or not.

In my view The issue is not just that the players are the same. We need 5 signings minimum for me

this issue is for at least 2.5 transfer Windows (arguably longer) we have failed to address JOC absence with a proper centreback and we have ZERO depth at all there now.

And we’ve not bought any creativity since we went up.

We stockpiled strikers and given them no supply. The worrying thing is that none of the Rumoured targets are going to address this lack of creativity - we seem to be being linked to more defensive midfielders.

Where’s the pace, where’s the trickery, where’s the person to unlock the door and feed the strikers??? I can’t for the life of me understand the construction of this squad and I can’t see how Slav can succeed if we give him a completely lopsided squad to work with with NONE of the attacking ingredients that made him a success elsewhere

Norwood, Fleck, Stevens, Osborn and Robinson all need to be replaced IMO.

Berge > Norwood
Freeman > Fleck

This leaves the same issue that was glaringly obvious last season, the weak left side.

Players are still getting picked despite minimal effort, it’s time for them to fight for the place again or lose it.

I honestly think we focus on the lack of JOC too much as the cause of all our problems.

Yes, we've never properly replaced him but it would be much less of an issue if we had a midfield. This is our major problem, for me.

Fleck and Norwood need to go. Freeman is never going to be our saviour as many hope. Osborn is a great utility player/cover.

We need 2-3 midfielders to turn this round. As you say, we have no creativity. We have no ball winner either. No height, no athleticism. No marking. Nothing.

You're right, we have far too many strikers as well. None of whom really fit into the current formation we're playing.

agreed - it’s not just the lack of JOC but we’ve trotted out a 40 year old jagielka, kean Bryan, Robinson , enda stevens and baldock at various times to play centre back for us.

they wouldn’t cut it in the championship never mind the PL and now we are down to just 3 of them. It’s not good enough.

agree on midfield. We have the slowest side in the league for me, wholesale changes are needed

How this is still not sorted is frankly ridiculous. SIGN A FUCKING CENTRE HALF.

How do you possibly come to this conclusion?

Assists in our Prem season despite being second fiddle to Fleck. Shipped out on loan to a Championship side and played 20+ games so knows the league. Holds the ball well and runs at players. Scored in preseason and wants to be here.

Compared to Fleck who currently offers little to nothing, like last season.

My real point is it’s time for the established players to face some competition for their places, it might give them the kick up the arse they need.

Yes, the cycle of this squad has sadly run its course.

I agree with the last bit but Freeman's loan at Forest was a disaster. He was either injured or on the bench. He looks a shadow of the player we signed and I've seen nothing to suggest he can play as a normal midfielder. His best games at QPR were further forward.

If what we have seen is how Jokanovic wants to play the game then yes, 4 or 5 players are needed to make it work.

I don't mind the change, but we don't have the players to make it work effectively.

UTB

I thought I heard SJ say in his post match interview last night that we had four players coming in.

Could be wrong but anybody else confirm?

Said 4 plus maybe another one…

Vieira
Davies
Garner
Doyle?
another? (maybe a wide man?)

No, they can't. It's pretty obvious that it's square pegs in round holes. Not SJ's fault.

I do think the problem is that regardless of formation of tactics there are just too many players in the squad who have been here for too long. For both the club and the player themselves, a move is probably a good think.

My point is it can’t be worse than trying the same thing over and over that clearly isn’t working. Give Fleck a rest and chance to regain his edge as it’s obvious he’s been pretty wiped out with various injuries and illnesses.

Clubs should have a churn of players even in the good times imo. Very difficult to judge last night though as the manager got it badly wrong. I knew Fleck would be shit and Robinson and Osborn would struggle in a four before a ball was kicked and I saw where they were stood. Let's put our pieces in the correct positions before we start calling them imo.
What SJ has to do is one of two things: play players in their best positions or, alternatively, smash the lot up so you can play your favourite system(s). No more square pegs in round holes.

Our midfield is the problem and has been for some time, no pace no creativity.

We have the strikers just got no one to supply the ammunition.

I would get rid of Freeman and bring someone else in tbh.
