Freeman gone...

I'd rather Harris was shipped out...Freeman can play on the left, after all.

When we don't win, there are posts such as "ferk em all off except Beard and Billy".
Then when any players head out of the door (including Kennedy, Wallace, Freeman and even Higgopotamus!!!) there is uproar on here.

Football Heaven will be a blood bath tonight.

I also couldn't understand Roygivs logic. Our squad is massive but Blades still insist we need more players.

Surely offloading players might mean we have incoming players lined up. Maybe or maybe not.

But surely offloading squad players is a positive?

I dont think I explained myself well in that post. I meant that trying to get rid of players was a bigger priority than promotion. I think not having clauses in the contracts of McNulty and Freeman show we just want them out of the door and no matter what injuries or whatever we get we won't be bringing them back. It wasn't meant to be a criticism and long term it's the best thing we could do. I just think the board see moving players on as the most important thing at the present time and any serious attempt at promotion will be not be able to happen until players are out of the door.

Basically I think we are doing all we can to push people out of the club despite the ramifications it may have on this season. We are telling them "You are not wanted at this club". Long term it's the best solution

He can go too as far as I'm concerned. But I assume no one wants him enough to pay his wages.

The fact he's been injured for most of the season might have something to do with it. Unfortunately, he seems to have gone back to his 'sick note' days, looks like we had his full season last year.

It's amazing isn't it. Our second choice right back, who co-incidentally is an absolute fucking liability at right back due to a total lack of positional sense, gets shifted on, and suddenly it is like we have just lost Roberto Carlos.

He offered us absolutely nothing, is League 2 at very best, and I'm thankful that he is another freeloading piss taker we have got shot of. Only about another 10 to go.

Oh no, we haven't lost one of the 20 players that can't make it into an average third division team have we?

"How can we protest?"
"Why didn't we work the deal out better?"
"Can we recall him? "
"One of our replacements gets injured sometimes!"

Keep it up United. You are doing what most of us were crying out for, right up to the point that.............you started doing it.

Thanks for that, I thought I was going mad Brownie. Fuck me.

I think Freeman is a good player at this level.

But John Brayford is far better.

Id rather save Freemans wages to strengthen elsewhere.

In the future I'd like to think an academy player or a young development player could be brought in to be a back up right back (we have an exceptional track record in this area).

Freeman is a right back.

Freeman is right footed.

Freeman is not a winger.

Freeman is not a left back.

Quite ironic how you choose Roberto Carlos.

Because all of a sudden Freeman is the answer to the left back problem that has miraculously got worse in the last hour and half.

Good riddance I say, he made too many defensive errors not good enough for us. If Brayford were to get injured Basham can play there as he did for Blackpool at a higher level than league one I might add.......................... feck me the second string RB moves on and we have a meltdown jeez

But I don't see how it shows we're prioritising squad size and promotion is not a serious aim.

Essentially it's something like a loan 2 out get 1 in policy.

You can spend say £10k per week on one player who is good enough, or you can spend it on two players at £5k who aren't.

These players are gradually on their way out, and I think it shows ambition.

He would not have been first out for me, and cover is an issue - but judgement calls have to be made.

There was a mini-meltdown this week when Otis Khan (who has been deemed not good enough to ever start a game) was released. I'm predicting that Cuvelier will soon be elevated to Messi status.

I quite like Freeman, but I'm glad he's out. Adkins said he would be ruthless in reducing the squad, and I hope this is the way he takes it. There have been plenty of stories these past 2 seasons about varying disciplinary issues, then there is the fact the large majority just arent good enough. If Adkins wants them gone, then that is absolutely fine by me.

Fair points. I wasn't making the point about promotion not being as important as getting rid of players simply because we've got rid of Freeman and I wasn't saying it was a bad move. What I'm saying is the major aim of this season is getting rid of the players not good enough. I think we are willing to leave ourselves short this season as long as we can get players off the bill. As I've said I'm not saying that's a bad thing , certainly not in the long term . My post was badly executed. It wasn't meant to be taken as a moan at the board for getting rid of Freeman

no uproar from me and i'm definitely in the 'ferk em all off except beard and billy camp'. :D

Are these loans out all with an option to buy or will they all be returning for next season?

I'm just getting the feeling that it's going to be the loan-market in which we'll be bringing players in.

Is that the way forward for this season?

I'm a little disappointed.

So am I hysterical or glad to see the back of the parasite in Boolean S24 land?

I don't think anything has been said about a permanent deal. The same with us and Hammond. It seems pretty clear Freeman and McNulty are finished under Adkins so hopefully they both do well enough to get themselves a permanent deal

Neither are out of contract at the end of the season though

That's not too bad because there are plenty more I'd get rid of before those two.

Looks like it's going to be the loan market.
If we loan players out, add new signings before Feb 1st, the loans return in June.
We could still have a 40+ squad for next season.
If we're talking of a mass clear out, let the cull begin.

At least they have managed to move two out permanently, three on loan at least getting game time, we can only speculate if we are saving all their wages or subsidizing them. A drop in the ocean really but a start to rectify the massive influx of players and handing out professional contracts our owners/board allowed in the first place. Will they make the same mistakes again, probably.
