Freeman & Coutts

I think they've all improved, including Coutts.
But from my perspective, the acknowledgement of Coutts' improvement has been hugely inflated, whilst other players who have done nothing to warrant any specific criticism have been slated continuously and unfairly in my view.

I'm sure that's been the case with some posters but I disagree that there's any sort of mob opinion on any of the players. Duffy seems to be one of the most unpopular at the moment generally but it's not a view I share. I just don't see anything more than a cross section of opinions on all of our players. I agree with those who identify Coutts and Freeman as amongst our most improved. I also think Basham has improved as has Done. Sharp was our POTY last season meaning he has set the bar higher when it comes to comparisons. He probably hasn't been quite as good for me but that's not a slight against him. Scougall, after looking rubbish (in my opinion) in his first couple of cameos has shown some improvement and looks a genuine option from the bench.

Couldnt agree more, he's gone from being crap to towing the line as per the expectations of his manager and team mates. He's proving to be of value these last 7/8 games but has been garbage for the last 18 months, i'd be very reluctant to offer anything more than 12 months.

Being a Clough signing he'll have got mates rates on his contract, i think he'll be in for a shock when Wilder put a new deal on the table in January, probably half of what he earns now.

Did you go last night? Genuinely, was fighting hard to be one of the worst on the pitch

I didn't. I won't go to any games in that competition. But he has done OK in some games (OXford, Peterborough etc.)

i havn't been to the Lane or England in over 4 years so not really qualified to make judgement. But i remember watching the fa cup game last season (on teli) against Man U and thinking he was our best player by far. So i have been suprised up until this season about the amount of stick he gets. I can only think he 'turns up ' for the big occasion and Wilders managed to get someting out of him this season. Was he really that bad under N.Apkins ?

Sorry....Coutts

Although they have done better so far - I would not be handing out contracts to these two just yet. Looking at Coutts time here - and his injury record, he still has a lot to prove.
