Jordan Ayew could already be signed before the 12 o clock deadline today and Chris Wilder is keeping it under wraps so that Blackburn won’t be ready for his influence on the game when he comes off the bench .. I think Chris Wilder did something similar a few years ago .. signed a player and first anyone knew of his signing was when the lineups were released .. so you never know !!

Not sure that’s the case this time.

He hasn't had an influence on a game in years, even if he was a surprise announcement Blackburn would just shrug and do exactly the same thing anyway

Whoever it is is likely to need a month to get up to speed anyway. I'm actually really not excited who this is, but that's probably because this season is destined for nothing regardless. Our only chance of excitement is a relegation battle.
Yes but it brings a bit of hope however small. Right now all I've got too cling to is Seriki and Oné coming back.

Might not be a popular opinion but on paper he might be good option.

He has been in the past good at holding up the ball and link up play. Given we have struggled at times this season to build attacks that could prove very useful.

The question is if we sign him will that work? Only about 3 seasons ago he was a steady PL player. Last two seasons he hasn't been able to help Leicester avoid relegations.
I'm in this camp, underrated player, but honestly I've not seen much of him in the last couple of seasons to judge his current ability.

Obviously I'd rather we signed younger wingers/AM, but needs must at this point. In genuine danger of a relegation fight, unless we start to improve (all over the pitch).

Another player with home country fans that will hijack Blades social media posts 😁

I cannot see this one adding much to the team tbh, I hope to be proven wrong.

God it's gonna be toxic for many games at the lane this season.

Has a bit of an Henri Camara or Danny Ings feel. Player who has had a solid international career and played at a good level in the Prem for a number of years.

Coming to us too late in their career on a free after the window has closed because we’ve realised we’ve only got 3 strikers (It was Henderson, Cresswell and Ched last time) so is being signed to make up numbers rather than as an improvement.

Henri Camara scored 4 in 23 for us, hopefully if it is Ayew he can beat that.

Zatterstrom out, Ayew in is being mentioned, Ayew is 35 on Friday, could do a job, but needs match fitness obviously

Ryataro Ito looks like hes probably the best free agent out there for what we need / what Wilder wants. If we brought in him and a winger I think we'd look like a much better squad overall. Ryan Kent would be my choice in a winger.

With regards to us likely signing Ayew. He wouldn't have been my pick but he's a massive improvement on the the current zero creative options we have on the bench. Hopefully he is still fit and doesn't need 2 months to get up to speed but I don't think any of the free agent will be match fit unfortunately.

He’s signing Ayew because another player in the squad knows him. Typical wilder signing. “Anyone know some lads we can sign”

I just hope this isn’t another Danny Ings, wage eating on the books.

We’re going backwards until Bettis is moved back to accounting. A proper football man brought in to oversee operations (Des Taylor key to recruitment summer 2024)
Wilder can’t be allowed to be the only man who has football knowledge and given free rein to demand which journeyman we sign next.
We’re only heading in one direction.

Yeah. I’ve been critical of other teams in past that start to sign players who were good 3/4 seasons ago.

Our squad is now littered with them or young players that are still developing into consistent performers. It’s not a mix I’m comfortable with. It’s the sort of stuff that means if you’re in a relegation scrap the older ones don’t care and the younger ones panic.

Whats up with everyone? We can field a midfield and attack of:
Rothwell, Phillips, Jairo, Choudhury
Bamford Ayew

Give em a couple of seasons and we will piss the Wragg Sunday League over 30s division one
