"Ipswich Town have agreed the mutual termination of striker Freddie Ladapo's contract.

Ladapo made 75 appearances for Town during his two seasons at Portman Road, playing an important part in the club winning back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.

He scored 21 goals as the Blues finished second in League One in 2022-23, then added four more goals in 2023-24 before finishing the season on loan at Charlton Athletic."

Must be worth at least a trial?

Can imagine he's going somewhere exotic if they've come to an arrangement like that.

We could do a lot worse though.

Never heard of him... Gerrimin!
Scored a great late goal for Rotherham v wednesday in COVID. I loved him then! He's athletic from what I know and strong. Hell probably end up at somewhere like Preston.

I remember him at Rotherham, didn't realise he was 31 though, thought he was younger than that.

More I think about this the more he is one of the few strikers we could sign that is available, free, has had a full pre season with Ipswich and he's tall and athletic and could therefore play the lone striker role.

As someone who can come on up top on his own in the last twenty minutes or just as a back up to Moore I'd be keen. Would tie us over to January.

If he's all that's left at the bottom of the barrel, I'd rather pass and save the money until Jan.

If Moore gets injured for weeks or months then it'll be Brewster up top on his own or having to change formation to accommodate two strikers such as Brewster and Campbell.

So signing Ladapo just gives us the option of another big guy to play up there. He may never be needed much but it's the cover we lack. If not Ladapo we need someone else between now and January but most free agents will have had no preseason.

I totally agree with the need for another striker but Ladapo is not even nearly good enough and would just be a waste of a 12 month wage (+ signing fee). He'd be 4th choice behind One and even then I'd be tempted to play a false 9 given the midfield options.
Why Utd didn't get extra competition in is totally beyond me - the lack of goals may be their undoing this season, especially if they remain prone to mistakes at the back (although that is likely to be dependent on whether JLT is selected!).

I'm not saying Ladapo is great but in the situation which we're in I can't see another better option to come in. He is miles more experienced than One and One is not ready. We are where we are with a total lack of support for wilder at the end of the window from whoever owns us. We're an Injury to Moore away from Brewster up top for potentially 3/4 months.

If you can name a better alternative in the situation we're in that is fit, baring in mind that most free agents have had no pre season whereas Ladapo has, then I'm all ears mate.

Wayne Allison was 34 when we signed him after he was released by mighty Tranmere Rovers who were a lower midtable championship team at the time and yet he was able to do a job for us because we were skint and Warnock knew he could do a job. I'd say Ladapo is in the same bracket.

No way Wilder would touch him, he dismally fails the character test. There are good reasons Hull didn’t offer him a new deal.
Yes,there is a reason,he is a really poor player. We would be scraping the barrel with him. I’ve seen him a few times and no thank you. Next ludicrous suggested player please.
