Former blades now in the Prem or Championship?

with the rumours of us flogging blackman to palace it got me thinking about former blades who are now playing in a higher div. i cant think of any we've sold who are playing lower than we are now?

*i haven't counted those who were on loan to us only permanents.

Derry, Leigertwood, Stead, Henderson there's probably quite a few more.

I still really can't believe Derry and Leigertwood places at Premiership teams/squads. I don't really remember them being that great at the lane some years ago.

Also... Depending on what you class as a higher level Luton Shelton plays in the Turkish top division, Ahmed Fathi plays for the #1 rated club in Africa and David Carney now ply's his trade in the Uzbek Premier League! Got a bit carried away on Wikipedia.

How is Ian Ross Broomers? I'm sure he was tipped as a potential superstar back in the day.

I haven't seen Boston this season so I can't comment on his current form. However, he's had four MoM awards this season so he must be doing something right. I saw him a few times on his previous stint at Boston and it seemed to me that whilst he was technically good (he took all the corners and free kicks) he tended to stroll around and didn't impose himself in midfield.


The following is his Biography from the Boston website. I see they describe him as 'dynamic', so maybe he's improved that side of his game. Boston are in the Blue Square North division, so he is playing in the 6th tier of English football.

Bio: Midfielder Ian Ross rejoined Boston United in November 2011 from Blue Square Bet North rivals Harrogate Town. After making 14 appearances for Harrogate in the opening weeks of the season, Ross left Wetherby Road and linked up once again with former Boston and Notts County team-mates Jason Lee and Lee Canoville. Ross marked his senior debut with the winning goal for Sheffield United against the Pilgrims in August 2005’s Carling Cup tie — before joining Boston on loan shortly afterwards. He scored four times in 16 appearances during a three-month spell with the Pilgrims and was duly named Powerade player of the month in Coca-Cola League 2 during his stint in Lincolnshire. Further loan spells with Bury, Notts County and Rotherham United followed — before Ross dropped into non-league football with Gainsborough Trinity and Alfreton Town. The dynamic midfielder played a key role in the Alfreton side which claimed the Blue Square Bet North title in 2010-2011.

was a good deal for us i think. sold a useless lazy lump whos only good enough for one of the bottom half clubs in the premier league, got a promising youngster in robson to replace him on the wing. and the legend porter up front. plus weve got over a million quid to never spend on new players. good times.
