Harsh on Doane! He had his career ended by a Wimbledon player just before he was going to be in the cup semi squad!!

Might explain the huge chip on his shoulder these days. Heard him threaten to stab someone in an over 35s game recently.

Claude Davis - 21 games although i remember him in a sense didnt realise he played as many as that

With that in mind, how about Li Tie and Hao Haidong.

Li Tie didn't cost us anything. Some third party picked up his wages. Well, that's what I was told at the time by a director.

Hao wasn't expensive. Neither was Chengdu Blades.

McCabe got stick for not focussing on the 1st team, and some of it was justified, but the Chinese outlay was minimal - and also separate from what was going on with, say, the Seck deal.

The dynamic duo from Man U Alex Notman and Michael Twiss, I can't remember a single thing they did. I guess we have a way of blocking out past trauma.
My one memory of Twiss was a Christmas time game against Preston (I think). Warnock brought him on after about an hour and I remember saying to Happy Hippy (RIP) "What the fuck has he brought him on for - he's bleeding useless?) - just as he scored a belter from about 30 yards out. "And that's why you're not the manager" was the reply.

Wasn't he supposed to be the next big star out of Old Trafford - who went on to join Fleetwood (or Morcombe?) after us?

I may have overlooked it , but I've not seen Nicky Law mentioned which is something of a surprise .

I well remember his debut against Man. Utd. when he spent a great deal of time clapping , pointing and back pedalling but as for making contact with the ball , he gave the impression that he considered this to be entirely unnecessary .

The following week we were away at Wet Sham and ,remarkably , he had retained his place . Towards the end of the first half , one of the Radio Sheffield commentators remarked " I don't like to be critical of individual players but with Nicky Law in the team it feels like we're playing with ten men ".

Obviously a keen student of the Paul Thirwell coaching manual " How to Avoid Contact With the Ball in a Football Match " and fully deserving of of a place alongside him in our all time Forgettable XI .

Nicky Law apparently made his debut as a sub replacing someone called Colin Marrison, whom I have honestly never heard of.

Still playing, for Exeter, I think, with Forte.

All far too memorable for me. The only two I had to refresh my memory on were Jasper Johns and Jason Holt.

Holt especially I can not recall what he looks like, what position he played, any of his goals, nothing! Yet he scored 5 goals which should de facto make him the most memorable player on the list, making the fact I have no idea who he is even more mind boggling!

I'm gonna have a go at this... even though drawing up a list of things you've completely forgotten about should technically be a impossible! So googled most of these and only gone for those who actually pulled on a first team shirt, as opposed to those we signed but never once crossed the white line for us. In fact those with bigger reputations and those that have played more games for Dem Blades get themselves on this list over others, as to be forgotten having played more games is far less excusable (all stats unreliably taken from transfermarkt.com)...

Alan Fettis (somehow he has two clean sheets from three appearances, most likely giving him the best clean sheet to game ratio in our history!)

Marcel Sas (I've heard the name. That's all I remember!)
Anders Jacobsen (can't find his Blades stats but I'm almost positive he played numerous times for us)
Stephen Jordan (played a whopping 15 times and set up two goals)
Shane Nicholson (this guy I do remember playing but wondered if others here do too?)

Tommy Black (played four times and scored once during a loan spell)
Grant Smith (racked up a whopping 10 appearances for us and I have no idea what he looks like)
John Halls (defensive midfielder loaned from Reading roundabout the Bryan Robson era)
Ryan France (rings a bell)

Michael Boulding (the epitome of forgettable)
Dean Sturridge (I remember his Derby career, just not us ever having him or him making 4 appearances for us during the 03/04 season)

Shane Nicholson scored a few goals for us, I remember.

Surprised so many people forgot Holt, he scored a bunch and looked OK, until he was using as a training cone by Swindon in the home leg defeat. He was fairly good on the ball but abysmal off it.

Claude Davis - 21 games although i remember him in a sense didnt realise he played as many as that

Not sure anyone who saw Davis run would ever forget it...

What do you mean D'Jaffo in the forgettable XI??
The Lion of Hillsborough, goalscorer in an epic victory......and you think he's forgettable?
If you can forget Paddy Kenny.....

Twiss was signed on loan by Steve Bruce. You are thinking of James Thomas who scored the winner against Preston but it wasnt a 30 yard belter, he ran onto a long pass before hitting a low shot

Barry Robson? Midfielder signed by Wilson in his second season, could barely move but had a fairly decent left peg.

This is Grant Smith:

I’ve read as far as page 2, missed a few and now I’m at page 11, but have we had a Jon Newby, Andy Morrison, Andy Davies or Des Hamilton yet?

Oh, and Jags’s brother was called Steve.

The Lion of Hillsborough, goalscorer in an epic victory......and you think he's forgettable?

I suggested him and the others as a few posters were wondering who benefited from those players signing for the club, rather than them being forgettable. If I remember didn’t Morrison captain us that day at Hillborough and Bullock boss the midfield?

Just checked and Morrison didn’t play that day. Curle was skipper! Morrison suffered a career ending injury when on loan at us ive also learnt!
