It's part of the pact all clubs enter into when the Sky deal was done. They say jump and clubs are bound to reply, "How high?"

There's no way round it, and I can't see it getting any better. Of course the Prem clubs expect the largest chunk of Sky's money. They have very little sympathy for the plights of teams in divisions below the Prem, probably shortsighted, but since when did being a member of the Prem mean you're meant to be more even-handed?

When we're promoted of course we automatically get our slice of the Prem money at the end of the season (I think that's how it works, of course if someone wishes to correct me feel free), but it's all relative and we'll be competing with other Prem clubs for the type of players who are capable of playing at this level.

One day this balloon will burst, and the likes of Sky and BT will move on to the next money-spinner. All the while we're waiting for this to happen (not any time soon I'd venture) our ambition would be to remain at the top level and attempt to improve this club both on and off the pitch without creating the level of debt that could eventually cripple us.
 
Have the Police moved the Millwall kick off time from 3pm yet?
 
When was it supposed to be? I'm in Prague that day anyway so hopefully I'll find a bar where it's on.
 
So they just moved the time of the kick off? Has I was concerned for a moment that they moved days, since I have to request day offs well in advance its horrible seeing games getting moved around. I have missed games because of it.

It’s almost like they want it to kick off so they can use it as justification for changing kick off times in the future.

I keep seeing this. This bubble will not be bursting anytime soon. Do you really think Sky would let the EPL rights go somewhere else? They would loose subscribers by the bucket load and would go bust within months. Even if Sky lost the rights, it would probably to an On demand content provider like Amazon, YouTube or Netflix who would step into Sky's shoes.

And then there's the spectre of a Euro super League to come as well....

Like it or not football and TV is here to stay.

Wow, what a trauma it’s moved ko time by 150 minutes.

Think positive... because the longer this season goes on and automatic promotion is a reality the more likely it is the games are gonna get shown live.

You're probably right.

It was mostly down to my age and remembering 'other' forever forms of essential entertainment, cinema being the one that comes to mind. There was a time when cinema had the same global profile as TV football, and then TV came along and gradually this golden age began to lose it's grip on what was considered to be a money cow in it's audience.

As long as people are prepared to pay whatever Sky or BT charge then it will remain. There are pros and cons of course, so for those who enjoy their footie and can afford to pay, things will remain as they are. But what does happen is that laziness takes over from pro-active attitudes, and those global entertainment giants can sometimes not see what's happening until it's too late to. All a bit academic for the time being though, as you've said, football seems to have a shelf-life that's destined to continue.

I could see a situation in the future though were Sky ditches the EPL for a European Super League. It's the only natural progression that the way the European game can go. The bigger clubs will want a slice of that pie for sure.

Exactly, will someone please tell our lass that the 0900 leave from the garden of England is now a 0500 departure.

She will not be happy with Sky, however it won’t stop her Sky subscription of wedding dress/ love island/ celebrity shit TV..

Sky has us all in its palm, unlike our lass as I now think it will be some time before I see her palm, let alone some of the more exotic regions..

Sky you don’t know how far you affect matrimonial life....

Know what you mean , I’ve booked , 6.30 flights ( means setting off at 4 in the morning out to the airport) for games to be moved to different days
Booked 10.30 flights for 3 o’clock games for them to be moved to 12.30 ( again like forest game ) Millwall game and various other ones ,
Ryanair charges you 50 notes to change flights , so that’s a ton before you knock the froth off a pint
The only thing our lass wants to now is why are you watching football again , you know they never win owt , I just give a chuckle and rub her little head , thinking to myself shut the fuck up christine love and go into front room and watch some of your shite will ya .

90% of the supporters of big teams do so because they win things. Why would a club like Man U leave a league that they stand a good chance of winning to join a league where they stand much less of a chance?

Why would they give up their domestic income?

I can’t see the business sense in it. They get the best of both worlds with the current situation.
