3 years ago tomorrow Nigel Adkins signed Martyn Woolford. Trust in Wilder. Good players will take time to sort and deal with.

Things could be much, much worse:

Weren't they all free agents at the time??? Were chasing contracted players now, bound to take its time

I just don’t get the relevance of what Sadkins signing Woolford has got to do with it.

Expect something good but end up getting a load of dross?

This is the important part, we’re going to pay a fee and that needs negotiating. However, unless we’re shopping in league one we’re unlikely to be buying the best player at a club.

This means that we’ll probably have to wait until the selling club has bought a replacement to push our target down the pecking order or they’re waiting to see if they can afford to be without the target of ours

How do we tempt them? Bigger deals and I’d rather we bought at the price we thought was right rather than push the price up (Jordan Rhodes) in the desperation that we can get them a week earlier

I use this technique when someone complains about something small. Or says 'there's nothing worse than' followed by something like queuing in a supermarket.

I usually remind them of the holocaust, the plague or something.

It’s swing and roundabouts.

We did our business early in January but ended up with four players who three of them had very little Impact on the season, so yes let’s make sure we get the right targets.

Of course the later it goes the less chance of them being used to playing with the squad lessens the chances of them hitting the ground running from day one.

funny.. i actually thought woolford was a good signing at the time..
then i saw him play

There’s always a later start to transfer activity when the World Cup is on I think it’s because of the pyramid effect where one player holds the key to others moving (only my opinion) because of financial matters or making squad numbers free there’ll be a flurry of signing soon I’m pretty sure we didn’t start signing players until mid July there’s not as much transfer activity around atm but when it comes...

Real problems replacing a substitute who was an occasional (largely ineffective) starter? My word, problems indeed.
Get the point on this but I'd rather have had Brooks next year than Holmes. Small sample size from both last year but Brooks definitely looked the better player.

Completely independent of whether we needed the Brooks fee to run the club. Just player for player
