Opening half hour was excellent in terms of tempo, urgency and commitment. Their goal came from pretty much nowhere and pissed on our parade a little at the end of the half. We struggled to get going at the start of the second half and probably because Port Vale doubled up their defensive efforts due to the man disadvantage, but as the half wore on we found a little more to push on for the win.
In summary, massive improvement on what we've been watching so far this season and a step in the right direction. A lot more positive and bold. More shots, more chances created, tighter defensively. The man that comes in will hopefully keep Morgs on and the players will hopefully have learned something from him during this interim spell.....mainly about spirit, hard work and what is generally expected of a Sheffield United player.
He may not be ready for the manager's job himself but on the evidence of the last 2 hours of football he has a lot to offer the club. Keep hold of him, he's a future gaffer in the making.
