I’ve got some personal news to share. The next two weeks will be my last at @bbcsheffield. I’m leaving to be the sports editor for the BBC in Hull, working for @looknorthBBC & @RadioHumberside.

Sad to be leaving Football Heaven but very excited about this opportunity.

He does, a Leicester City fan apparently. He seems to have no idea about the local teams or even the Championship. That’s 3 Yorkshire born presenters gone/ going. Not good.

Suppose we will find out a bit more about them when they are commentating. Came out with some shit about the win ration of the Porkies when Bannan is on the pitch for them, why he should be looking at stats like that, well it's anybodys guess.

I quite like Staton actually and of all the presenters I think he has the best sense of humour and tends to handle the idiots who phone in the best. Good commentator too.

A shame to see him go but good luck to him.

A case of people probably only really appreciating them when they’ve gone sadly. I pretty much gave up on arguing the case that Staton was, contrary to popular opinion, actually quite good at his job. They fact he is apparently a Wednesday fan simply highlighted his professionalism at his job.

I like Staton. As Stretch says, he handles the idiots well, IE, taking the piss out of Ian the Eckington Blade every time he phones in, even more so tonight as he introduced him to the new guy. He might be a Pig but I think the way he speaks to some callers is brilliant. I'd certainly much rather have him than someone from Leicester who knows nothing about any of the local sides. With Buchan going aswell, RS is going to sound pretty shit now with a bunch of new guys who don't know the managers/players/regular callers.

Rob Staton proper knows his football. Always great to listen to and absolutely love his banter with the callers (especially Ian the dull eccington blade and Johnathan the posh blade). I'll miss him. Think they need to give Adam Oxley a permanent position on the show.

Rob Staton is/was the only current local journo who properly interviews managers, asks the tough questions and makes them squirm. For example, listen to his interview with wilder after Middlesbrough. The replacement and Mike McCarthy may well prove to be excellent local journalists but even if they do, they’ll need months to get their feet under the table before they start to take on the managers. Might be a pig but he’s a loss.

Nothing on Paul Walker and Seth though.

Pity. I like him. I think he’s the best one on that programme. Good observational skills, fair minded and objective, not afraid to stick up for his opinion but allow others theirs, doesn’t over-talk the callers and has a dry sense of humour. I wish the lad all the best. Really enjoyed his intelligent contributions to our local football scene.

The new guy will take a bit of getting used to. He sounds bright, but speaks far too correctly for round here! He’ll not easily be accepted.

Just listening back now. Sad to hear Staton has gone, he's a good presenter in my view and much better to have local lads if possible, even if he is a Wendy! I still prefer Giddings who is on his own from last years set. Just listening to the first caller, a Wednesday fan, suggesting Wednesday are back in the promotion bid now! Ha ha!

Just listening to the new guy now on play back. I need to get out more! Not that keen so far, I like a local accent to be honest, but at least he's not southern! Sorry to any southerners here but can't stand people saying baarth and not bath! My favourites were Paul Walker and Andy Giddings, who is thankfully still here.

Surprised Rob Staton's gone to Radio Humberside! I would have thought that Radio Sheffield is better on your CV than Radio Hull! Maybe he's become the main man there.

Definitely time for him to go, think he’s been at RadioSheff 10 years, like Walker before him he’s let his ego get the better than him, started to throw his toys out of the pram if he doesn’t agree with the callers.
