Footballing Myths

Personally, I think he should never have been appointed, probably should have been sacked after losing the POF and definitely should have gone at the end of the following season, which was absolutely farcical.

His appointment was a knee jerk reaction to Mogadon Man, who I genuinely feel could have taken us down that year. Appointing him was a mistake, but appointing Bryan 'There's only one United' Robson, was a far far greater error.

I agree completely with your other two statements.

1. "Free" transfers

2. Direct free kicks at goal are really dangerous. Or, to be even more specific, Cristiano Ronaldo's 2 in 100 success rate means that direct free kicks at goal are really dangerous

It compounded the error of appointing Robson. Had he been replaced by a better manager than Blackwell, the damage could have been reversed. I’d love to see how much money Blackwell wasted on loan fees and loan wages, wages for players not fit and wages for players we didn’t need or didn’t suit what he was trying to do.

I think you are wrong there.

For every Jordan Stewart, there was a Nyron Nosworthy.
For every Brian Howard, there was a James Harper.

Oh!

I see what you mean......

The amazing levels of support at Newcastle.

Bollocks. Pre-Keegan they were getting 11,000

It's worse than that:

"* The Newcastle v Wrexham Second Division match at St James' Park on Wednesday March 28th 1979 was abandoned at half time due to rain. The score was 1-1 at the time - match void. The attendance at that match was 7,152 which was the lowest post-war League crowd at the ground. When the fixture was re-staged in May the attendance had dropped even further - to 7,134."

I was being generous and thinking more in terms of averages, but I do remember going up there to watch us and the crowd was no more than 11,000.

I was being generous

You can stop that right now!

We are Sheffield United, detested across the land and only second worse scum to Millwaaaal.

Before you know it, you will start saying 'to be fair' and that leads down the very slippery path to where you actually applaud good play by an opponent.

I think you may have a touch of sun stroke.

Get your one-eyed head back on, get out of the sun and re-hydrate.

Sorry. :(

Fucking Geordies, nearly as deluded about crowds as the Rusties.

*kidney punches a passing disabled woman*

Better?
