Rob Staton was a prolific poster on Owlstalk for years.
He's a Sheffield Wednesday supporter. Why not just say?
He was openly congratulated by Neil Hargreaves and many other
forum contributors for progressing thru' his journalism courses.

My dad, was part of that contingent. Ask him about WolfeTone.

Pathetic. They must think we’ve dropped off last bus. Can’t listen to anything from them now due to that sneering contempt from Staton.

Well, we try to engage but posts like this make it less likely in future, sadly.

Hope some enjoyed the special. The watchable version is available on the Sheffield United BBC page if you want to give that a go.

To the people who wish to engage and not just see negativity and bias all the time, feel free to send direct messages if you ever have any questions.
Yep, I listened in for the first time in a few years TBH, I gave up listening in during the McCabe years, but I thought that you gave a balanced view tonight and please keep posting on here and other forums, interaction with the fans is of a benefit to all.

A diversion...

Biggs, his one contribution to the SUFC news today.
Took him until 16.30 to contribute, maybe he'd lost the ink bottle
and his quill was out of action?

Another journalistic clown from your area.

Biggsy has 100% got a room in his house like that Alan Partridge fan/stalker where he has a dummy with his face on and he plays the part of his fantasy interviewees. Probably does both voices and films them to watch them back.

“On todays show I’m joined by none other than Terry Curran”

“OOOH HEWWO ALAN”

“Terry, lets talk about Sheffield Wednesday and sex again”

Again… anything that goes against your “view” you just shut it down, used to listen to the show 5 nights a week, Saturdays after the games, it’s got steadily worse, I actually don’t think the show is bias, that’s not why I stopped listening, it stopped being a show about other people’s views, and being able to have a discussion even if you didn’t agree. This is why local journos and regular media are getting overtaken by fan led online content, because there’s less restrictions, often more informative and more freedom to express views.

I mean you could have come back and said “you're welcome on the show to express what you like… as long as it’s considered..etc but no, just the same push back and using the argument's to make a point…

I joined 10 mins in and didn't hear any caller who was critical of the CW appointment.

That’s because in real life there aren’t many. This forum is the little echo chamber.
It was very balanced on the show and very clear that we need to think about the next stages and put in place a succession plan. Really sensible stuff.

Fair enough if no Wilder critic called in.

I agree, this forum seems to contain more CW critics than is the general picture

They’re going to be even more insufferable the next couple of weeks now they’ve got their leak back at the club.

I can only apologise if true, I was certain there was a tribute on Radio Sheffield for him last year, hence saying what i said. Speaking to colleagues at work they thought they had heard the same tribute. I don't know him personally so can only apologise for any misunderstandings caused.
I think you’re getting confused with the two Brian Rotherham supporters. Rumour has it that they may have passed on , although I heard them both on Sat night so that may be false ? Perhaps ?

Reactions: Gee
When I saw they were doing a Sunday special I was wondering how long it would take for people to get stuck in .
Don't like it don't listen.

But then some would have to find something else to be outraged about on social media.

BBC employs a Sheffield Wednesday supporter - close it down, outrage.

Couldn’t give a shit they employ a Wednesday supporter. I do however give a shit when said employee allows a pig to take the piss regards Selles, but instantly cry’s and shuts down a blade doing the same thing.

As noted earlier:

1. It wasn't a Blade, it was a Barnsley fan

2. There was a stark difference between the two calls. The Owl followed a United caller who called Ruben Selles "a sausage" and he basically started his call by responding, "he isn't a sausage, he's the only thing making being a Wednesday fan tolerable at the moment." He was then asked to talk about his own club, which he did. The Barnsley fan spoke at length about the Reds and then right at the end said he wanted to praise Chansiri and would be celebrating when Wednesday go out of business. There was no humour attached.

Let's at least be fair here.

Didn't listen last night so can't comment on content. One genuine question. Have you tried to get an interview with COH SUFC's new owners? Failing that could Rob Staton wheel out Stephen Bettis again. There is virtually no information out there in the public domain regarding COH's plans or intentions for the Club. As the local Radio Station should not be actively pursuing this?

Giddings and Hall were having a cry during the Ipswich game because COH wouldn’t answer their requests for an interview, which is totally understandable given the journalistic integrity on show through the summer.

Yes, we've asked for interviews with both multiple times and will continue to do so.

Likewise I listened for the first time in years - I think it was 'Praise and Grumble' which I used to hear whilst living in S Yorks. I expected to hear some controversial views and was surprised how civilised it all was after some of the nonsense on here over the last week or so (not all football related of course).
Thought all in all it was a pretty fair programme.

I find that quite funny... you must be a Wednesday fan...
