See, if we're just plucking random matches out of the air how about some of these attendances at Elland Road this season?

League Cup: Leeds v. Crystal Palace - 10765

FA Cup: Leeds v. Northampton - 9531

There were 4500 at Histon... but that was an away match. Can't quite remember the score...

League: Leeds v. Millwall - 19314... I can see the thousands were knocking down the doors for this one in the league.

So all you've managed to prove is that Leeds has more part-timers than anyone.

Well done... your southern cousins are looking on with envy

TENS OF THOUSANDS? Why don't they all go in the home ends? i'm sure most league one clubs aren't all that organised as to stop that sort of thing.

Many do. But these are small grounds and Leeds are a massive draw. What few home tickets are available are always snapped up by Leeds

You can't even sell 40% of your home tickets, bit poor wouldn't you say for such a massive club?

Boycott. If our season tickets were 349, like yours, crowds woiuld rise accordingly. But £500+ for a new applicant puts many off

How much does it cost you to get on the advance sales for the play off final? You know, that one that you've not even qualified for yet.

£50

I wonder if the OP would like to tackle any of the information that I laid out? No? Didn't think so.

If we were a 'massive club' like you, we'd obviously charge more for our season tickets ;)

Even goldfish hate Leeds, that's why Risdale had to pay a gazillion quid for them.

What are you doing on here anyway Barry? I thought your great rivals were those in red from the other side of the Pennines, our kid?

Kid in playground (spotty, annoying little oik): 'He's scared of me!'

Other little kid: 'Who?'

Kid in playground (spotty, annoying little oik): 'That giant kid who can beat
the pulp out of everyone.'

Other little kid: 'But he just walked past you without knowing you were there, besides he would squish you like a little bug!'

Kid in playground (spotty, annoying little oik): 'No, I'm his biggest rival'

Other little kid, falls over, wets himself and dies from oxygen starvation due to laughing so much!

The End!

I'd love to support a club whose away tickets were so readily available. We sell out everywhere we go and tickets are only available to registered members who've paid the £35 fee[/QUOTE]

Don't you just love a club that thinks that much of its travelling support that it uses the current situation (more fans than tickets in league 1) to take advantage of them by extorting a fee or not letting them buy a ticket.
Wonderful. Master Bates and his caring sharing (as long as its with himself) philosophy.

haha 500 sheets to go to a ground you rent off the council, you've got to be gutted

They're just one of many clubs across Europe who reserve a special jealousy of Leeds United

Whilst we're temporarily playing in the lower divisions, it's inappropriate to dwell on the rivalry, even if they do insist on singing about us every week

Can I suggest to barry and with all the very best intentions, that perhaps he go and find a footy mad board to post on?

They really like this kind of attempt at a wind-up over there and it leaves us grown-up people to talk amongst ourselves.

Say hello to the West Ham fans while you're there and ask them if they want their dummies back yet. They were strewn all over the forum when they last came to visit and they didn't have the chance to put them back in before they were banned. They were however, very amusing and didn't really try as hard.

Kind of sets your stall out early when you call us all "cocks"... while I feel you're going for the slow-burning approach, I no longer have the time or inclination to continue this conversation considering we have a match to go to tonight (this might be a foreign concept to fans such as yourself, but some of us do actually follow our teams and our clubs care more about us than to rip us off for the privilege.)

Normally trolls set out to do one of two things. Prove a point or annoy us. The only point they usually prove is that they are, in fact, imbeciles and the only annoyance they cause me is the fact I have to tootle over to the admin panel and ban them. Now in the grand scheme of things, you have really done neither. Nor have you been funny with it.

So in the words of Duncan Bannatyne, sorry, I'm oot.

To be fair, it's been policy at Leeds since the 80s. It sticks in the throat as a fan, but the demand is there to raise revenue this way. I'm sure Sheff U would do the same if they had as rabid an away following

I didn't call you cocks?

Them West Ham fans sound like they had a torrid time of it! You brute!

Is this true Mr Norman?

"But there is an anecdote doing the rounds which captures the prevailing mood in the city. Bates asked for an explanation when he learned a supporters' association had been slow to hand over a £100,000 cheque to the club, and was told the money was being withheld for a rainy day. "A rainy day," spluttered Bates. "It's been f***ing pissing down here for years" (source Sunday Herald)

and then £35.00 to get a chance to buy a ticket, mate you are being taken for more rides than a Blackpool donkey:hello:

35,000 fans are willing to pay it. It sucks balls, but what can you do

It's not as bad as charging £50 to guarantee a ticket for a game we might not even qualify for

A bumper crowd of over 20,000 will throng to Bramall Lane tonight for the Blades' crucial play-off semi-final second leg

Club chiefs have hailed the 'phenomenal demand' as proof that United deserve their place in the Premier League of English football

The astonishing ticket sales come just days after almost 2,000 Blades fans made the trip to Preston for the first leg

Former Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell is staggered by the massive interest in the game

"Considering Elland Road is just a few miles up the road, it's staggering that we can pull 20,000 to the Lane

"You take it for granted that a club like Leeds will have hundreds of thousands of fans take an interest when a Premier League place is up for grabs, but Bramall Lane will have 23, maybe as many as 24,000 fans packed in tonight, that's not to be sniffed at."

It is thought the crowd might be swelled by Yorkshire football fans who were unable to lay their hands on prized tickets for Leeds United's forthcoming play-off clash with Millwall. With 38,000 tickets sold in a matter of hours, tens of thousands of fans are known to have missed out and Bramall Lane bosses hope to benefit from disappointed fans

A ticket office spokesman appealed to unlucky Leeds fans, "There's still thousands of tickets available priced at just $16 or $20. If you couldn't get a ticket for the big Leeds game, why not come along and watch the Blades? We could do with your support"

How did Leeds go on in their Play Off - Away leg? Are they taking Millwall back to this shed they call Elland Road knowing that if they win they go through? NO, they need to win by 2 clear goals!

Think I might have read Barry a bit differently to some folks. Comes across to me as a gentle soul - mis-guided but essentially harmless :)
Unfortunately Barry, the undeniable reality is that we are better supported (home and away) nowadays and that our ticket prices (and ticketing system) reflect the fact that our club seems to care about us more than yours does about you.
I'm a bit unusual for a Blade in that I have no major axe to grind with your lot - my brother-in-law is a season ticket holder at yours (but no stranger to backing the Blades from our Kop either :)) - but you do have that Forest, Newcastle etc problem of believing your club to be something it hasn't been for decades. When expectations out-strip reality it can only end in tears - you just need to look at Hills-bog-horror to see that :D

35,000 fans are willing to pay it. It sucks balls, but what can you do

One minute you are saying ST sales are down because of a boycott and now 35000 are willing to pay a fee, methinks there is a twisting of facts to suit here? so what's the truth fans are boycotting, hence the falling home attendance, or everyone's willing to pay?

The truth is, that Leeds United are a shocking shadow of their former self. And long may it continue! Ken Bates... the second best thing to happen to the club after Peter Ridsdale.

LOL

We've sold every away ticket we've been given. We took 5,200 to Peterborough

You can't even muster 2,000 for a play off semi at Preston!

But you finally averaged more than us at home and all it took was a mass disparity in prices and possible promotion to the Prem

No, the boycott exists on the membership too. The thing is we've always had to pay to apply for away games, so people are used to it, less so Ken Bates' extortionate season ticket price hike when he took over

I went from £400 to £525 in 12 months, and that's the cheapest seats. We lost 10,000 off our average overnight, despite going from mid table in the C'ship to a play offs position in the C'ship

and being better than you and in a higher division than you.
and not having a knob for a Chairman.
and owning our ground
and (as has been said before) being in a two team city (which should be a disadvantage, but we still got higher average then you in your one horse town)
and most importantly of all, not being Dirty Leeds! :D

I'm really trying not to have a pop at you mate - but you ain't making it easy :D

5,200 took the half hour ride straight down the A1 to Peterborough to see Div 1,s class act (Sorry asout that Leicester ) - whilst we only took 7,800 all the way to Crystal bloody Palace via 3 motorways, one bus ride, one tube and a sodding camel trek.

Live with it - the Blades are the Pride of Yorkshire - and that's from a Derbyshire lad too!!!

Errm. I'm not sure what to say to this

We sell out our away allocation every game, the average attendance in the division has no bearing on this fact

But what would I know, I'm 'less educated', so I'm sure there's a complex mathematical principle underpinning your point, whatever that might be

Please confess who taught him the big words in the above?:p

I couldn't be arsed to read much of this thread, but I reckon it's about Dirty Leeds being twats, and jealous to boot, with the complete inability to sell out their cack-hole of a ground, rented from the council I believe. Do I win a prize?:D
