Sorry I haven't got a better HP than the DM but I thought this was interesting reading following "the football club sees the phone as a revenue stream" response we received when the issue was raised at the last meeting.

Football clubs, shops and airports still ripping customers off with premium phone lines that were BANNED two months ago

Supermarkets, football clubs, airports and major utilities companies are still using costly 08 numbers two months after they were banned.

Fair Telecoms Campaign has named and shamed hundreds of companies dragging their feet over the new rules, including National Rail, Heathrow Airport, Lidl and Tottenham Hotspur.

New regulations came into force on June 13 this year, prohibiting use of numbers not charged at the 'basic rate' for contact from consumers.

Calls to all numbers beginning 07, 08 and 09 are not charged at the 'basic rate', as special charges are imposed, so companies have been told to offer 01, 02 or 03 numbers.

Dave Hickson from the Fair Telecoms Campaign said: 'We want to get rid of these numbers once and for all.'

Consumer watchdog Which? said that people should not be expected to pay a premium to ask a question or complain.

Executive Director Richard Lloyd said: 'If they haven't already all companies and public bodies should now do the right thing by consumers and drop high rate numbers without delay.'

The 084 and 087 lines can cost up to 15p a minute from a landline and 41p from mobile phones.

Most leading firms including Sky and Morrisons have switched to basic rate 03 numbers, which are normally included in phone users' monthly calls allowance.

Any company which fails to comply with the new law and still offers a premium-rate number for their customer service line will be putting themselves at risk of court action.

Customers will be within their rights to take such companies to court and successfully reclaim the excessive charges made to them.

Trading Standards are also able to get involved in bringing companies to justice.

That reminds me, it cost me £7 to ring the United ticket office for a West Ham ticket, only to be told I couldn't have one because they couldn't post it and I couldn't collect it from Upton Park.

It's not the easiest purchase is it - I'd like to be able to buy two family stand tickets without a premium rate phone call or a trip to the ground. But no, I have to feel taken advantage of before I've even bought anything.

Its also taking the piss to hold you on the phone to hear that Chesterfield tickets have sold out, and to keep telling me its quicker and easier to buy on line.
YOU WONT LET ME!

And when you do you get charged £1 to have your card activated.

Can't Foxy and Linz sort this one out when they meet with the powers that be at the lane?

WTF? Did the Scammers have responsibility to post the ticket to you?
Why didnt our ticket office post it?

Anyone tried buying tickets online?
What a fucking sick joke.

Do it all the time without issue for away tickets.

What problems are you having?

It has been next to impossible to even log in. Trying to decipher the pile of pointless hieroglyphics sent me by box office was impossible. It was supposed to be to enable me to use a drop down perhaps to choose a junior ticket. We couldnt copy it paste it, it was not a link and it was utterly useless. I could have bought two adults but why when I want a junior ticket for my nephew?
Login was unbelievable..both email and postcode were given and rejected, despite being asked for.
I then logged in and was grateful to box office for allocating me my login details but the so called link was disgraceful. What a waste of time.

Could do with being a bit more specific if I'm to raise it :)

I'm aware the system isn't the most user friendly, nor does it have a few features I'd consider key (I've made plenty of suggestions in that area), but it generally works.

Buying a junior ticket is usually as simple as choosing Junior from the dropdown box and clicking update basket.

Do you want to forward me the email to [email protected] ?

The date the tickets went on general sale was too close to the day of the match for the tickets to be posted out apparently. There was also a limit of 40 tickets which could be collected from Upton Park, which had run out by the time I got through. I therefore had to pay on the day which cost me an extra fiver on top of the £7 the call to the ticket office had cost me. So a £10 ticket cost me £22.

They honoured the discount with no problem for me, thanks box office.
Bath Blade, what a terrible experience that was.
