I hope Hecky plays Fodderingham in the replay it’s important that we play him as Davis was not up to it. Fodders gives confidence to the defence.

So bloody frustrating watching Davis yesterday needs to be offloaded when out of contract at the end of the season. When he parried the ball into their players the air was full of obscenities

I am with you. He was a complete bomb scare - parrying when he could easily catch the bloody thing.

Let me point you in the general direction of the recent Arsenal v Man U game, particularly United's second goal, which explains the downside of trying to "easily catch the bloody thing" rather than clearing it

I'd say the opposite. Davies needs minutes where possible on the evidence of yesterday. Save Fodders for the league

I would look at Ben Woodbury if we get promoted. Could not get enough first team action at Newcastle and moved to Preston He is a good age for a keeper and better than the Championship

We're not winning the FA Cup.
The more important thing is to keep a harmonious, upbeat squad for the run-in.
Give Davies the game. It's not easy being a reserve goalkeeper.
Davies isn't that bad.

Poor positioning for 2 of them and the 3rd was right at him and went under him. So, yes. Worth noting his indecisiveness and dithering could have cost us more (not coming for crosses etc) especially that parry straight back at their players.

First was deflected, second was down to Sharp not putting in a decent clearance, third was down to Egan being massively out of position, leaving Mullin completely unmarked. I'm not Davies' biggest fan, and if you want to argue he wasn't great throughout the rest of the game, that's fair, but putting the goals on him is pretty harsh.

Hopefully we get shot at end of season he’s out of contract. Be madness having him as backup in the Premier.
My Bengal cat is better in the air than him.. his performance yesterday wasn’t bad it was PISS POOR

With a transfer embargo, how do we get a replacement ?

Well hopefully by the end of the season shouldn’t be affected as we have 30 days to sort the embargo from when it was put in place BUT the clock is ticking

Davies is clearly short of match practice and the confidence that brings. 2 he flapped at in the first half were fouls on him but he should have taken the ball and wiped Mullin out on both occasions.

Thinking back I can’t recall a reliable back up GK since Ian Bennett. Simon Moore did ok when called on but always looked a bit rusty. People will write Davies off as “not up to it” but realistically clubs wouldn’t keep on employing him if he didn’t have the attributes to make him a competent goal keeper.

If we signed another reserve keeper we’d still have the same issue when called upon.

Back when Simon Tracey and Alan Kelly were battling for the position we had reserve team football to keep the reserve keeper sharp

Third went through his legs.

I think Ndiaye was at fault for the third. Not that it matters. It wasn’t really Davies’s fault.
Wes is better than Davies, which is surely obvious, because Wes is first choice keeper. But he may still play Davies as we need a confident, sharp, match-ready keeper in case anything happens to Wes in the promotion run-in. Davies is surely only going to get sharper if he gets more games, and a 4th round replay at home against Wrexham is one of the few games he could reasonably expect to get game-time now.

And he did save a penalty late in the league game against Norwich which rescued a point.

Think it's more important he has chance to play himself back into a bit of confidence. He's no use to us if we drop him and shatter his confidence even more, he might be needed in the run in

Davies is good, made a brilliant penalty save v Norwich. but there too much at stake to not put the strongest team out.

this is no different to a derby. & as much i like the 2 ryans, i think there 2 of the best overseas owners. i really want to pop their balloon

Think it would be a terrible management decision to play Wes
It basically tells Davies we don't even rate you as backup.
So what would be the point in having him as backup.
