......."feeling his thigh now" according to Adkins.
Wallace, Coutts and Kennedy get some stick on here but everybody seems to have forgotten about this guy. In his third season with us and managed 10 games. Horsfield and Ebbrell were worse signings but is Cuvelier in bronze position?

In fairness the cruciate takes some coming back from in the long term, but yes he's made of glass

Well, having cost us a decent fee and dropping from a PL club to League One, I'd imagine he'll be on about £5,000 per week. In which case he will have cost us about £500,000 in wages in addition to what was probably more than a £250,000 fee. Typical Blades value for money really. Being a highly rated player he was always destined to get injured as soon as we signed him.

Just one of many players on the books who will never feature and need shipping out as soon as possible.

Shit happens. Look at Liverpool; lost Ings and Gomez in two days. Or Bournemouth; lost Mings, Gradel and Wilson.

I don't think Flo had a history of injuries, it's just bad luck.

ACLs used to be career enders but I don't remember so many happening back in the day. Is it a symptom of the modern pacy game?

Bad luck or not; he's been a dreadful signing.

As others have said for all debates on some of other similarly ordinary - inconsistent - crap bunch we currently have; the likes of Coutts, Collins, Flynn, Baxter, Howard have all had moments in United shirts where they have had positive contributions.

Cuvelier played 10 games and most of them when he first arrived. For all the promise, you tube hype he was lightweight, ineffectual and games passed him by. I cannot recall him having one good game for SUFC. He came back briefly last year but was very ordinary v Southampton and then sort of disappeared again.

On his bike in the summer along with many more all being well. That is if he can ride it due to his myriad of injuries.

Any idea what he's likely to have earned while he's been here? Divided by minutes played for us?
Flo has managed about 600 minutes in total
Wallace has managed about 800 minutes.

i've scored the same number of goals as them in a lot less time than that.

some waffle on here
Great signing isn't he? Hard as nails, with a great turn of pace and trick. Instrumental in everything that's good about us. Value for money, every day of the week.

You know, sometimes you have to take your head out of the clouds to enter a debate. :)

Bush , alot of times its not bad luck . To me its the football boots players wear thses days , which give no protection , and having blades intead of studs , more injuries are occuring . The pitches are 100% better for all weather conditions , but part artificial pitches / training pitches ( Desso type ) , means there is no give in the pitch , and more injuries occur . Only a observation but players injuries seem to be getting worst, and they must be a reason other than the break neck pace it is played at , especially in the premier league.

Actually when he came back briefly last year I didn't think he did bad Deadbat, and was quite hopeful that we may be about to see the Flo we had all hoped we signed. Sadly didn't happen, and seems to have become the forgotten man.

I think the modern boots are responsible for broken toes, which also seem to be more common than they used to be. Who'd heard of a metatarsal twenty years ago?

Do you think using blades instead of studs could be contributing to ACLs? Never played with them so I don't know what it's like.

I'm sure people are going to start looking at this in the media soon. Excuse the pun but its crippling some clubs.

Personally felt he was one of the better players on the pitch, especially first half, in that game v Southampton.

Sadly he's spent too much time on the physio table to get a sustained run but I've no doubt he's got quality. If he can't get himself fit ASAP and get playing he'll need moving on - on that I'm in agreement. Adkins sounded pretty annoyed at his situation in his interview.

There is a debate going on at the moment that blades could be a safety hazard especially on some pitches and crating injurues . Boots with studs have been known to create foot and tendon issues on harder pitches . I think Adkins passed comment on boots , and is looking into all the players footware .

Players get about 20 pair a season free from the manufacurers and the fashion side has somewhat taken over technology , with some boots being lighter than carpet slippers , and providing minimal protection.

I think we have to use any angle as a advantage , and wearing the correct footwear could help in both game time and training , to reduce both short and long term injuries .

Think on Saturday i will be looking at boots more that the match .:)

Have a like just for the title! Can we get t-shirts printed?

Another factor is that medical progress sees players doing what Wallace etc are doing, trying to get back. Past days these players would be finished so we'd have no concept of them struggling to get back.

Agree Grumpy . But thinking back i just cannot remember the same level of injuries throughout football . At one time you could name the starting 11 week in week out for most teams . Ok there were injuries , but the common one seemed to be a broken leg , or that statement / prognoses could have covered a mulitude of differant injuries.

Cuvelier has been here twice as long as Wallace. Wallace played 90 mins for U-21s on Monday so everything crossed for him!
I'm confident that his magnificent surging assist at Peterboro would have left UnitedBlade floundering in his wake!

Just listening to Talk Sport and they're saying the same about blades.

Flo has been the most disappointing signing since we got relegated to L1. I was thrilled when we signed him having seen him for Walsall the previous season where he was an absolute live wire. Looked so talented.

I can't even remember witnessing more than 3 games that he's played in for us.
