However they are LED and can be turned down so should we ever get relegated then that would happen. So what would you prefer, premier league football or dimmer lights?

I know this has been mentioned on the match thread, but this deserves a thread of its own.

The view from the John Street Stand was utterly spoilt by the new floodlights. Everyone around me said the same. Just too bright. Too dazzling. Too much. They are not adjusted correctly. The angle is wrong. My head hurts.

According to Linz the Tony Currie Stand had the same problem.

This needs addressing immediately.

Mentioned this to my brother, LED lights I reckon, don't use LED bulbs in my house for same reason- bad for the eyes.

I wish I had thought of looking directly at that during that game though. Would have been the best game for it.

As I said up thread, no escaping them from my view of the pitch.

I'm not entirely sure how I can narrow my peripheral vision.

I didn’t find them to be an issue. Maybe its because I’m at the back of the South Stand, so the trajectory isn’t as bad. They were noticeably brighter, but it didn’t cause any problems for me.

I’ve cancelled my sun bed sessions at El Sol de Bri. I’ve also noticed several people developing mild Jamaican accents like (Dem Blades).

Stop moaning, to bright, crowd to loud, flame throwers to hot, £5 for a tray of shit chips, it’s what we wanted. Get the factor 50 and yer budgie huggers on, stick a burger on a stick and point it at flame thrower, don’t look at the sun (derrr) and enjoy the PL.

Row M John Street stand they were really annoying at first but I got used to them. Definitely at the wrong angle shining more in the stand than on the pitch. Maybe they were like that because the team would be chasing shadows more ?

I read the NFL do the same, something to do with games being filmed in uhd/hdr. Colours are apparently dim and washed out on a hdr tv when its filmed with certain cameras. Certainly the main objective of going LED is to keep pace with the evolving needs of sports broadcasters, who require natural, flicker-free lighting to cope with high-definition slow motion replays, LED technology allows sports stadiums to use lighting in a more creative way, making them attractive venues for events such as concerts. Control systems allow individual floodlights to be switched on or off or dimmed. Systems such as Philips’ ArenaVision makes it possible to create pre-set light scenes for specific applications, such as dimmed energy-saving levels for cleaning and maintenance.

I can’t believe they were switched on Saturday, is that some Premier League rule that the floodlights have to be on even when it’s a sunny day without a cloud in the sky?

When the world is concerned about climate change and carbon footprint, we’re and presumably the whole of the Premier League are wasting electricity.

I think VAR works better when they're on, that's why they do it.

More importantly was anyone burnt alive by the pyrotechnics for the 2 PL home games? We are quite a way back from the pitch and could feel the heat from them. What's it like sat near pitch side?

A mate of mine sits near to the front - he said it's like going for a teppanyaki. He lost both his eyebrows at the opening home game with Crystal Palace. Being a good mate, I used my wife's eye-liner to sketch him a pair back on, so he didn't look so odd. Problem is, I drew them rather high - he looked surprised.

Doesn't really matter which, as long as we've got something to complain about when the football isn't good, that's all we ask. It can be the lighting, the pies, the groundsman, anything really, we just need that outlet when things on the pitch haven't gone too well. Of course, even if things have gone well, it doesn't mean we won't find something to complain about, but for sure, when things haven't gone well we need it more than ever.

We were in the BLUT, about half way back slightly JSS side, so probably 50 yards away and felt an instantaneous blast of heat every time they went off.

It made me realise how unrealistic it is in films when people run out of a burning building and dive as an explosion happens five yards away and end up with a bit of a soot smudge on their face.

Having worked in this sort of field for over five years now, I have a very good idea of what 'particular preferred supplier' means.

There are many regulations regarding to stadium lighting. According to lighting guide of UEFA, there are six types of football field. Elite Level A for Europa League finals, Level A for Super Cup final, Level B for semi-final matches, Level C for qualifying round and so on. The lighting standard increases with the importance and popularity of the matches, says we have the highest standard for final.

LED lights are fine in your house as long as you get the warm white ones not the daylight ones
