Well, it's like when they look for proof of theorised sub atomic particles and don't find it.
It isn't proof that they don't exist. That is a common scientific way.
I'm not saying the covid link exists in the sport injuries, simply saying we can't make that conclusion. It does add to the evidence of no probable link.
It was a passing point of 'interest' really.

Could be epilepsy which he's had for the whole of his life for all we know, not trying to speculate on the cause, but these things are kept strictly confidential, and rightly so, it's their private medical information and could impact their career opportunities if it was to get out

I have some sympathy for John Fleck’s situation. While it is possible that his collapse has led to a medical intervention that has enable him to be declared fit to play again, his form prior to collapse was not great.
Will we see the old Fleck, who used to feature regularly as a POTY candidate, or one on the downslope at careers end?
I hope he comes back a fitter more confident version of the former Fleck, and gives Hecky some tough decisions to make about Fleck’s future.
