Fleck has set the bar today

I thought Fleck had a very slow start to the game and seemed to buck his ideas up after that big error when they could only hit the post.

Once he got going I thought he did well, his left foot comes in handy at times and that ball to Clarke, who made a wonderful run ( just offside), was sublime. Credit Clarke for getting there when others had not all game.

Thought Stevens started poorly too but stepped up very well second half.

McBurnie and Robison just need a goal or two and they'll be fine.

The creativity of L.Freeman is missed when he doesn't play. When we develop enough confidence to play the 'Duffy role' our strikers will get better service.

Lundstram did well and Norwood was correctly substituted. I'd have replaced the captain with L.Freeman. Thing that has surprised me about Freeman is his physicality in the tackle and his workrate.

Egan massive, O'Connell and Basham great.

Sorry, Henderson 5 after that block of Salah's chance, 3 otherwise. No big deal as long as he has a thick skin and unbending belief in himself. It's Tough at the Top for a young lad. The crowd were magnificent with him and he will remember that for years.

Thought Fleck was outstanding today. When he’s in the mood like that he’s a top midfielder but too frequently he fails to stamp his authority on games he should.

He’s really set the bar with that performance today. More please. Very proud of the boys and gutted to have lost.
Played well but fluffed big chance which I guess describes the whole team.

I think some people are missing the fact we were playing the European Champions today and Fleck stood out in the Midfield. He created and his tackle following the Mane chance was immaculate. There were mistakes by a few but let’s remember who the fuck we were playing, the pace they play at and the sheer quality of what we were up against. Couldn’t fault a man today and McBurnie was a colossus in what he did for the team. His running off the ball, his defending and all round contribution was exceptional. At times I think by the time he gets in front of goal he is that fucked that he can’t get on the end of chances.

Proud of them to a man and felt so sorry for Hendo.

Well at least me and you watched the same game..

We were unlucky ! That’s all..

First time this season I didn’t wish we had Luke Freeman in instead of Fleck.

Most of my mates who watched thought fleck was best player on the pitch. And that's a selection of Liverpool, spurs, Man United and other club fans. But what would they know.

TBF you’ve had a shocker; movement, ball retention, passing, and (for the first time at PL level) athleticism were all on display from Flecky. He was our MOTM.
As with most things in life this is not a black or white situation. Of course Fleck has a lot of good qualities and moving forward with the ball or showing grit and determination he has often been our standout midfielder.

I would also say that his second-half performance was much much better than the first half and I assume that he had a bit of a rocket from Wilder at half-time.

I guess me and the mates I watch games with have a bit of a downer on Fleck because he does give the ball away too easily sometimes, misplaces passes and miss places tackles and doesn’t score nearly enough goals. I saw these things yesterday.

But I also think it’s the case that when you’ve got it into your head that a player isn’t performing as you would like them to you often look at everything they do through that lens and subconsciously accentuate the negatives. Where as others who have a more positive view of the same player will look at the same match and accentuate the positives.

I will try to be more objective about what he does well rather than focusing more on what he does badly.

We look defensively solid so far this season and have been undone by wonder goals and individual errors, but going forward we look toothless and the front line isolated.

Wilder needs to go back to what's brought us success the last three seasons, and that is having a midfielder play behind the front two. This brought the best out of Fleck and Norwood and stopped our strikers from being chance shy and isolated.

Fleck worked hard today but his passing was average, like most of the team.

100%. Didsy or Freeman behind Moose/McBurnie with 2 from Lundstram/Norwood/Fleck in CM. Especially in games against those around us.

Again I’ve seen a different game - in which he gave the ball away through sloppiness several times including when they then ran up the other end and hit the post. And fannyed around instead of shooting.
A real weak link. Would pick Freeman over him every time, he is not PL quality.
Bit harsh is that he had his best game for sometime ,as you say could have cost us once or twice but overall he made things happen in a positive way.
He is too casual at times and makes poor decisions when in good goal scoring positions which he must improve quickly.
The positives far out weigh the negatives at the moment but he has to kick on.

I'm genuinely perplexed by the way that Fleck seems to be a bit divisive amongst us. I'm a big fan but I've got mates who are not so keen. I think he's a very smart footballer, his default position is head up, he's always aware of what's happening and constantly directing others. Generally, he's very tidy in possession but he also loves a tackle, if he scored a few more goals he'd be pretty close to the total midfielder. Thankfully, Wilder rates him and I reckon virtually from the moment he signed him he's been one of the first on the teamsheet.

Fleck, along with JOC and Stevens (and possibly Egan) are probably the only players on our books who would attract the sniffer dogs from other PL teams.

What an absolute baller he was today!
so comfy with the ball at his feet which is great to see, fantastic runs, passing and dribbling but the ability to play it simple when needed and his tenacious effort is fantastic

Take a bow flecky, what a ball for mooses wrongly disallowed goal as well!

Robinson nowhere near ready his contribution is not good enough
But I think there’s a reason for that as he’s a very talented player
