Fleck comes back in, for who...

CCV to the bench, Bash back as RCB.

Doesn't deserve to be dropped, but neither does Bash.

My reasoning is that Bash bombs on better.

Completely agree, but seriously how nice is it that our football is so good to watch AND successful that the only difference between two centre backs is one bombs on better.

After seeing you at Millwall away at the start of last season, never in a million years did I think we’d be dating that on the Championship 14 months later.

Fleck should come back into the middle of the park for Bash, it’s whether Bash takes up a position in the back three that is the question. Personally I would put Bash on the bench.

Great. We’ll let them manage the team. Perhaps we should have a parent’s committee? I think you’ll find it’s Tufty who decided when DB was good enough, not ‘regular watchers’.

I think you know exactly who the three amigos are. Perhaps you’re too embarrassed to name the useless articles, all of whom were destined for stardom, according to ‘regular watchers’ (whoever they are). I knew otherwise and said so.

So that’s about 10-1 to me versus the Boybanders in the ‘proven right’ contest. Long, Chappell, Kennedy, Whitehouse, “Fadz”. The list goes on.

To be fair, Kennedy shouldn't be on that list. He's not playing first team football at this level because of his knees. He's been a very unlucky boy.

Dating? Does Linz know?

...be funny if Wright comes back in against Notlob...personally I reckon we’ll play the stronger lads such as Bash, CCV...and Wright for Alison..:p

Well I think it's safe to say after a nice little rest for Fleck he should be back in the team no doubt on his performances over the past 18 months, but for who?

I'm probably going to take some stick for this but I think it has to be Basham for me. He's full blooded and no doubt one of our top performers but the strenuous nature of center midfield in our system means a lot of miles covered and although I couldn't find the statistics he's rattling up the yellow cards again. Think he'd benefit from the rest and Bolton at home should be a game where we're looking to kill them with football.

CCV has got better with each game and if you watch his man to man marking and combat he's been impeccable with his speed vastly underrated IMO. United fans love a scapegoat but the last couple games he's learned from his mistakes and passes it off to Lundstram or Baldock frequently, think he gives us some much needed pace at a position where it's needed (RCB).

Think if Donaldson is on the bench for Sharp (a change I think likely after 2 starts in 3 days) then it's a different story because we lose the height needed from set pieces, but just wondered what everyone thought.

Rest Bash for a few games

Our best player is Fleck in terms of footballing ability and a player who will go on to play higher.

Know that do you?
Well ever since Wilders been here he's picked him every game he's been available ( except when injured or suspended ) so it's not rocket science to assume CW rates him very highly and Basham is the cornerstone of his team.

If he misses a game here, why would Spurs recall him just so he doesn’t play for them?
As their main priority is his development, and if he’s sat on our bench they may think he may aswell be back their

Considering they let him come here with no guarantees that he’d play, they’d probably look at 30 games played rather than 16 games missed

There’s a lot of hot air on here from people ranting on about why their favourite players should always play. However, believe it or not all games are not the same and the best team against one set of opponents can be disastrous against another.

We have had a vitriolic exchange in this thread about the relative merits of Coutts and Fleck. Coutts has been magnificent against teams that sit back where he has had time to control a game and sling 50 yard quarterback passes one way and another. When he was given no time on the ball such as at QPR he was almost a liability, no time to pass and lack of pace to track back when we didn’t have the ball.

Stearman is better on the ball and in the air than Wright - Wright tackles better and controls a defence better against through balls. Basham is better going forward than CCV - CCV is like a fucking tank if somebody tries to share his space.

We need - and we are developing - a squad to cope with different opponents. We have scouts watching to identify the way that our opponents might play. The golden touch that our manager has is having players to combat that and options to change it.

Magic is Forged not Quarried

Apart from the games he was on the bench and Jake Wright played, before he brought him back for Millwall in an attempt to combat their aerial threat

To be fair Danny , the reason Stearman was on the bench was almost wholly because he was returning from injury .
