Fleck and Coutts

I thought Fleck was our MOM.
He made some good runs with the ball.
He was unlucky with one run in the box their defender did a great tackle just has he was about to pull the trigger.

Waiting for the 'Sharp and Clarke' thread to appear..

There's nowt wrong with Fleck and Coutts. Freeman was the weak link yesterday. It was evident last season what his shortcomings were but he created a useful smokescreen with his goalscoring feats. It's a fullback we need first and foremost ffs.

Brayford anyone?

Both will be fine as I've said on other threads it's just a matter of adapting to the pace of this league,so far they have been far too wasteful with passes due to being pressed quicker than they are used to but they will adapt quick enough

Was about to start something similar myself. But less of complaint notion about it....at first thought Evans and Sharp to be too similar to play together but I think it's only a matter of time before it is Sharp and Evans. Nothing against Clarke he's not played bad at all,but Evans does seem to create more when he is on in the 2 x 45 mins I've seen him. When Clarks gets it into his feet his first thought is to look back for someone advancing where as Evans seems to instinctively look for goal.. Sharp would score half a dozen just knocking in the spills from Evans shots..

And from what I've seen Evans is more than strong enough to play the target man role.. and taking Clarke out of the equation may quench this desire to knock it long to Clarke. Blackman and Stearman are the worst culprits but also Basham and JOC guilty of looking for that ball too often over the 1st too games. I don't think this is Wilders will at all in fact I can see it infuriating him I'd say more a case of the back 4 looking to relieve pressure.

Love to see Cloughs face when deadline day passes and his waiting game tactic backfires and we decide to use Brayford meanwhile Burton ship goals for fun..

Wouldn't be surprised if e thought of relegation is stopping Burton pressing ahead on this

Thought coutts had a good game, of the two he definitely had more involvement in the game. Been the better of the pair in the two games so far in my opinion.

Probably agree on the two games so far, but I expect more from Fleck. It's not that I think either deserves to be dropped, it's more that I think we could use a bit more muscle. I think that's why Wilder went in for Coady, and if we'd landed him then I would've expected Coutts to make way.

Took Fleck 4/5 games to get going into top gear last season?

Are they up to it at this level?

Perhaps the question is can they play together at this level?

We looked wide open in midfield at times tonight. We were a little fortunate in the first half that their new players were still fitting in together otherwise they could have been out of sight, the second half we looked better once Coutts had been told to play deeper, but it didn't look a natural position for him.

A re think may be needed in selection and crucially perhaps transfer policy before the month is out.

My problem with the midfield v Boro was not Fleck or Coutts but Caruthers and to a lesser degree Leon and Billy.

Caruthers (as the free player) should have been wanting the ball off both to advance the play up field and in a small way to be helped by Billy coming a bit off the top. The phrase as we all know it as, is "movement". Billy is an intelligent footballer and may have to sacrifice being bang up top all the time and come a bit deeper to help the midfield a bit, especially away from home.

Thought we looked much more solid as Duffy did this job better. Caruthers has more skill, but Duffy appears to read the game better and finds free space easier to come across.

I expect Duffy v Cardiff, replacing Caruthers. Possibly Lafferty for Stevens as well.

Is this what it's going to be like after every loss?

Deservedly we should have had a point against one of the best squads away from home. Now is the not the time to dissect the team.

If you believe we can get a better player than Fleck or Coutts on our budge you are crazy.
Don't see why not - it always used to be! :)
