what people seem to forget is that growing up as i did supporting united through the 4th and 3rd divisions under poeterfield ,mcewan and basset the club were an absoloute joke and viewed by leeds as insignificant and by our MASSIVE neighbours as not even worth merging with as our players were not good enough for their reserves

even when basset took us up to the top division the pigs went on to have the most succesful period of the last half century of their recent history

so when we won games like that leeds one and did the sheffield double it made you so proud to have watched the club rise like a phoenix through a succesion of dodgy chairman ,crap managers and poor crowds

i remember being in the kop for that leeds game and thinking at 0-1 ah well we have played really well against one of the strongest teams in europe and then looking on in disbelief as jaggys thunderbolt hit the back of the net followed on by nuddys winner
