How does a fixture change get decided.
The Blades game with Notts County has been moved from a Saturday kick off to a Friday night .The match has been switched to the day before on police advice due to wendy playing on the Saturday.
A Saturday kickoff will bring in more families with children more away fans it must mean more money in for the club.So just how does one club get the bumper Saturday game and the other loses out. Who makes this decision, is there compensation for losing a Saturday match crowd?

prob the police in talks with the fa. annoying from a blades point of view

I wish we could swap every game to a Friday night, early finish get down the boozer then have a cracking atmosphere at the game then back to the boozer still with all the weekend left

The better solution would be to make sure that the fixture computer doesn't plan rivals to have home games on the same day. Not that difficult really.

The police can charge for two matches and over man both if it gets moved to a Friday.

Why don't they move it to Sunday afternoon, surely a bigger crowd than on a Friday night

bigger Crowd (maybe) but far shitter atmosphere and would probably be some stupid lunchtime KO. Plus wed prob be inrterfering with Sky in some way or other and we all know its Murdoch who has the final say on fixtures

This is the 3rd year running this has happened. I hope the club are getting compensated by the FA and a reduction in policing costs from SYP.

Great idea. Then the majority of those fans who don't live in Sheffield and who travel home on a friday evening would see the grand total of nil home games.

Yeah but all the Blades who work on Saturdays who couldnt come before will be able to attend

Friday is better than Sunday. Two days hangover recovery time before work on Monday
Hopefully shorehamview we will not have to get too pissed to watch us next season:DShould be pleasing on the eye.

Having said that ,i'm hoping we are having a few celebratory drinks next season, instead of drowning our sorrows.

We don't drink because we have to. We drink to celebrate.

We celebrate the pub having beer.

Really don't like Friday night games. I travel from Nottingham and the M1 is a bugger to travel up on a Friday night.
I know that notts county won't bring lots of away supporters but they too will have a bit of a nightmare journey too.
Just saying......

Cannot believe this has happened again. It never used to happen in the past and now with all the latest computer software available it happens 3 years running. Incompetence by the fixture planners. Bet it hasn't happened in Liverpool, Manchester etc. Shouldn't Wednesday move their fixture anyway as we had to change ours last year.

To be fair , I think the team in the higher division should play the Saturday as they will more than likely have more away fans to consider.
Just means we will be playing on the Saturdays for the next few years after this season. IMO.

It happens twice a season; they have to switch one game to a Friday night and so do we. I suppose it will be the same this season.

It was stated last season United and the pigs were supposed to be taking it in turns to move fixtures if they clashed at the same time. We changed Crawley and Forest games, pigs changed er, none. This season we've changed Burton cup game and County game, while pigs get away with it again. Our board should be showing some backbone here and digging their heels in over this, whether it's with the pigs or the rozzers.
