Everyone involved with fitness, stamina and conditioning at the club needs to be sacked.

Half the team look dead on their feet after 60-70 minutes every game.

It's not like we play high tempo or high press.

We normally score a goal and then defend or box. Our fitness is laughable.

I thought Cannon looked exhausted warming up. You are right, how many of the team can run about for 90 minutes?

It's one of the reasons I think we end up sitting back. Our midfielders become CBs because the two wingers do sod all so they have to deal with an extra man. There's no one with energy and tackling to bring on at the same level. It's why we play Rhian bloody Brewster out wide because he's one of the only ones with fitness who is prepared to put a shift in.

Spelling of shift? Quick before some 'toilet humour' pops up.

Souza and Peck lost complete control of the middle. Davies should have been on sooner.
More so Peck. He was here, there and everywhere in the second half which caused gaps for them to run through whenever he lost the ball. His lack of positional discipline is the biggest area he needs to improve on. Being enthusiastic is one thing, but if it costs your team then it's a hindrance. It's the reason why I don't think anyone will come in for him this summer, and a reason I personally don't rate him as highly as others do.

Is say impressive given he was chucked in for his first season but he's quite limited. I'd say a big team might offer us £10 million for the potential but he has been very overrated.

Totally overrated ,but Arblaster is too.
Souttar was, Jack O'Connell was, Hamer is.

Time will tell with Arblaster. We've hardly seen him.

Souttar is great at this level.

JoC was great in our system.

Hamer is a skillful little blighter who will get goals and assists but there are question marks over his attitude, fitness and his around game. Goes missing a lot. Gets booked a lot. Always out enjoying himself. Always fucked after 70 minutes. Poor conditioning as well. If he'd be a 100% we'd have won the league.

We need to do something about our fitness regime. Most of the players we signed over the last few years were able to play a full match before they came to us. Now our best players are unable to complete a full match.
You have to wonder what's going on. We have 3 Muslim players (Anel, Brewster and Choudhury) who seem to have better conditioning/stamina than most, so I wonder if there's the wrong kind of culture at the club?

How does their religion relate to their fitness?

Simply stating the fact that 3 of our fitter players don't drink.

It's not just Muslims who don't drink alcohol and I'm sure that many professional athletes do take their health seriously.

I see your point though.

Praying for 'divine' assistance might help too as 'god' probably doesn't like Millwall either.

Parking the religion aspect, there's no doubt that consistent and heavy drinking (I'm not suggesting any of our players are in this bracket) would impact a lot on the fitness of the players.
As the game has developed from being a technical game to being one for high level athletes there is plenty of evidence that any alcohol consumption at all will have an adverse effect. It is, after all, a poison. Players from backgrounds and cultures that don’t abuse alcohol will clearly be at an advantage in terms of conditioning.

I don't necessarily subscribe to your theory as none of us have enough to verify it but its an interesting theory nevertheless that merits some consideration.

As I have said in other threads its time for us to review everything, no question is too silly to ask.

Just a thought and I'm not suggesting that our players all drink too much, but we know one does and he like to sit down halfway through second halves!

I think the board said in there post Wembley statement that they want to assist the team to improve the medical side of things at the club.

I still wonder whether it is a real problem or was to some extent brought on by circumstances.

The circumstances I am alluding too are the initial recruitment because of the takeover impasse was done in haste and some of our players never got a proper pre season.

The squad was also slightly unbalanced. Add to that unfortunate major injuries to Arblaster and Souttar, coupled with the likes of Tom Davies and Tyrese Campbell not being fit at the start of the season and I think it put extra strain on some players.

This sometimes catches up with you over 46 games and I think it did with the likes of Souza, Hamer and to some degree Peck (even though he was never out injured).

Whatever the reason some of our board have strong sports team and medical backgrounds so I am sure they will be doing a through review of this area.
