First game I ever went to was Don Megsons testimonial. My best friend as a kid,and still my best mate half a century later had a pig Dad, but he wasn't really, just a dead cool Dad who took his son and me to football.
Second game I ever went to was with my pal and his Dad and also at the sty. I sat on my mates Dads shoulders on the Lepps end as Man U beat the pigs 3-1. George 2 and Bobby 1 I think, could be wrong. Also went to the Santos game, still got the programme. As a High Storrs pupil Tim Mardell let us go in lieu of a detention to make up for lost time.
My first game at The Lane was the 3-2 v the pigs.
I was a Blade after the first visit to the sty as I hated everything about it.
Subsequent happy visits there were the 2-1 Man City victory that sent them down and our 3 1 victory. I have been there for the zenith Bob Booker game. Also the league cup when Peters was our manager. The big one when Brum took their kop,the 5 4 v Man U and sadly Boxing Day.
I hate the place and seriously wonder if I'll go this season. Probably will as I would hate to miss a 4-0 reverse and rewrite history..

Anyone else as fervent a Blade yet went elsewhere first?

My Dad's a Wednesday fan. I recall them playing Leicester, can't remember the score or anything as I don't think I was paying attention or really had any idea what was happening. Must have only been about 7 and hadn't really developed at footballing interest yet.

Despite being an Owl, my Dad actually took me to loads of Blades matches. He's one of them 'I want both Sheffield teams to do well' kind of fans, but followed Wednesday when he was younger. We lived in Sharrow, so it made sense, and he knew I was a Blade, all my mates were and my family are either hardcore Blades or mild Wednesday fans.

The most memorable was the play off semi final against Forest. Was about 9 but I remember it so well, I was in tears when we were 2 down, but my Dad told me we'd bring it back.

My uncle (Dads brother) was a Blade, he took me to a few matches, including the FA Cup Semi Final against Arsenal.

Remember watching the first leg of the Forest semi final at a mates flat, then going out and having a kickabout with a few from the estate and a Premier League and England right back in the making.

Experienced both early on, but it was always the Blades.

My Da , ( Lord have mercy on him ) was a pig ,
He never tried to turn me to the dark side , he took me to the Blades as we where above the pigs at the time .
The first game I can remember is Man city at home.
He took me to home and away games ,and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for giving me my life long love affair with this club of ours .
I would like to thank him but sadly he's know longer with us .
10 years ago I brought my lad over to Sheffield for the first time , he's hooked now , and is a Blade .
His first game was v Chelsea in the prem league I still have the shirt I brought him that day .
Jags name is on it , the black and white away shirt at the time .
Thank you Da ( Johno ) , once a Blade always a Blade .

Went to a handful of Pig games late 80s due to one of my best mates being a Pig and when his Dad couldn't go.

First Blades game 81/82 season beating Northampton 7-3. Decent way to start :)

High Storrs eh ? Tim Mardell (often seen in the middle of the old Shoreham St kop) ? The Santos game on a school afternoon ? Great memories ! I was there 1969-75 , what about you ?

Tim Mardells son Mark was in my year. I was at High Storrs from 71 to 77. Was at Hunters Bar before with my besie mate Joe. Work that out.:)

Me grandad (mum's dad) were the only pig in a family of Blades born and raised on Shoreham Street. His oldest daughter (my auntie) remains a pig, his son is a Blade despite spending all his life in Ireland and youngest daughter (my mum) is a Blade unall.

It's in the blood!

My Dad was a Pig, but one of them who has been to about 7 games in his life.

My Uncle was a fanatic Blade and my first game was Palace '97 PO final.

I don't think that game made me a Blade, but the home and away games we attended during the Spackman era that followed did. I was about 11 at the time and picking a favourite player from Kelly, Borbokis, Holdsworth, McGrath, Quinn, Whitehouse, Jan-Aaaaage and Deane was tough.

In fact, come to think of it, the atmosphere on Deano's return game at home to Sunderland probably sealed my fate as a Blade.

Blades v Chelsea at the lane, must have been 78/79 ish.....Blades won 2-1 I think, I remember a penalty save by Jim Brown, again I think.
Best thing about it was we were on the upper tier of the away end completely surrounded by Chelsea.....3 of us, Me, my sister, who turned pork, and my Blades mad mum off 'the circle' on the Manor.
Coz she was in the forces and based 'darn sarf' the bdtbl ticket office assumed we were Chelsea fans and sent us tickets in the away end......tbh it was a tad dodgy, before, during and after the match but I was hooked on SUFC......The Blades are more addictive than Crack.

As said in other thread the old fella was a pig fan .. got dragged to styborough for Oinks vs Swindon I think it was 1976 . My first match at The Lane was 1977/78 a League Cup match against a very good Everton side of the time ,think they finished 3rd in league that year , we lost 3-0 I can remember Bob Latchford & Duncan McKenzie scoring . First league match was the following Sat 1-1 with Sunderland.

Blades v Liverpool, we won 2-1 I think, Dean scored past Grobblar and Liverpool were wearing their green Carlsberg kit with the 3 white stripes on the shoulders. I'm surprised i can remember that much cos I couldn't tell you what I did on Thursday!!!

Whitehouse scored the second in that game.
Probably one of Deanes best goals, sure it was from miles out.

Having looked up the exact details, Blades at home vs. QPR on 26th October '96. Steve Slade scored early and Taylor pulled us level in the 83rd minute for a 1-1 draw. Next match was another 1-1 draw against Bolton. Third was a 2-0 win against Swindon which, in spite of now having seen Taylor score the first three goals, I left absolutely in awe of Petr Katchouro.

Thanks for that memory S20, my first game as well. I was an army child so never had a team to settle with until moving up the M1. Our neighbour was John Sadler who reported football for The Sun. He took me to my first ever Blades game where we beat Chelsea and, as you say, the Blades became addictive.

It was against either Arsenal or Southampton, 1966, remember entering the ground via Bramall Lane corner and it was a miserable wet day. Think Woodward scored. That's as much as I can remember. Around same time we played Liverpool on a Friday night and I was threatened with a bottle and had my scarf nicked on Shoreham Street.
Nice

My granddad introduced me to BDTBL - boxing day 1957. However 1965-66 season me and my mate (I was 16 at time) signed up to sell piggy programmes for the season - you got automatic entry to the game in the little area in front of the west stand at the time. Our thinking was that we would be able to continue selling the programmes through the World Cup matches at pigland. Anyway the b**t***s told us near end of season that the regular programme sellers wouldn't be needed. Presumably relatives of the board and other hangers on got the gig. So I had to "suffer" a season of pig matches with no reward at the end - mind I did enjoy the 1969 Man City game from Leppings lane end!

After moving down from Scotland and the hurly burly of watching Motherwell whenever i could get a lift off my dad, i arrived at The Lane in 1993 on the short bus ride to watch Sheffield Utd take on Spurs. United in red and white stripes, Spurs in light blue.

I sat in the middle of the cop right behind the goal, surrounded by 22k supporters on a hot Saturday. The game finished 2 2, Gordon Dury scored at the cop end but that day it didn't matter to me.

I left the ground with no thoughts of Motherwell and knew i had found the team, the supporters that i would follow and become for the rest of my life. It is honestly a day i will never ever forget.

And all just 10 mins from home !! UTB

Blades vs gillingham first game of season, think it was around 2003. Finished 0-0. Was my first and probably worst game I've ever been too

Probably the hottest weather I ever went to a match

Hottest I recall was a sweltering kop for the qualty goal game against Spam. The song of the afternoon being a lusty rendition of "If you've got sweaty bollocks clap your hands".
