The point of it was that it was recognising a Sheffield sports star from outside football.

I don't see the point of recognising a Sheffield sports star outside of football when we could recognise a true legendary player who gave our fans so much pleasure and memories and spent nearly all his career at our beloved club rather than some fashionable sports celebrity who's probably only visited the ground a few times.

Couldn't stand it personally (see what I did there?). Pathetic attempt by McCabe to bask in reflected glory whilst the club languished in the third tier, which ended up blowing up in his (and the clubs) face.
