I'm embarrassed by some of the comments on here.

I saw no reason for unnecessary violence after the game whatsoever and there was nothing whatsoever to feel aggrieved about towards the opposition today than pretty much any game.

Remember it well, Blades starting on shirters and young lads and ended up getting twatted all over the place.
I must’ve walked a different way. I was on south stand G block for that but don’t remember anything of that. Very sad. It was a great night of footy.

it was my old man that got caught up in the fracas, he's a bit scuffed and shaken this evening but fine, was well looked after by the medical and security staff and a bit embarrassed that he needed taking care of, ....does very well for 87 and he'll be there next week for the Sunderland game, thanks for all the well wishes!
87! Ducking hell good on him for coming to games. Hope he’s ok.

I left thinking it was a good game between two good teams going after each other and commented as much. No reason to get arsey with anyone at all really. Apart from the officials who were a bit shit.

Didn't see that incident Danny but there was a stand on the Moor today in that exact spot "Islam against Extremism" which had a banner up saying something like "Murder, kidnapping and Violence are not permitted in Islam"

Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but I walked past it twice and the 3 muslim chaps manning the stall were getting some real pelters and some heated debate was going on. I don't like to judge on appearance but let's just say there also seemed to be a fair number of EDL wannabe types lurking around too. The whole atmosphere was very tense. Admittedly I didn't get close enough to hear exactly what was being said but it was obvious that some of the locals didn't appreciate their pitch.

The one all dressed in black from that stall was telling them all to stop it during the fighting so it may have escalated from that heated debate you mentioned, but this was at 14:50 so may not have been the same incident.

Re. the game in 2014

You could be right but I didn't see the build up or anything. All I saw was a group of about 20 young(ish) Southampton fans charging around the place shouting "Saints, stick together." They were throwing punches indiscriminately at Blades fans & I locked eyes with one of the gobbiest twats which had me worried in case he attacked me whilst I was with the girl. Luckily he thought better of it & ran after his mates towards the Cricketers.

I then passed some of the same group of Saints fans again running away from Decathlon car park where there had clearly been some sort of kick off.

Football violence is completely retarded. Especially in this day & age. Embarrassing stuff.

I was walking up Boston Street after the match and these little Southampton cunts were hitting anybody they went past. Back to yesterday...

These twats don't care about how good the game was, how bad the officials were etc. Getting pissed/drugged up is all part of the 'away experience' for these morons. If the coppers were the least bit interested, they'd grab the Saints fans obviously intent on trouble and keep hold of them until the last coaches/trains back had departed.

Leptonite glad your old man is okay.

I was walking down John st and it all happened right in front of us.

I couldn't give a stuff whether you are a Blade or a Saint it was the behaviour of scumbags. It was a crowded st and there were no thoughts for the people around them. The outcome could have been far worse.

I have never understood the need to punch or hurt another human being because of a game of football. All the pious rubbish about never involving colours or blades righting the wrongs, or they started it utter bollocks. The bigger man is often the one who has some self control and walks away.

What summed it up was a big guy in a denim shirt which was ripped to shreds. He had just watch Leptonites Dad get flattened because of his actions and he is still standing there being the big man shouting and asking "if they want some more". Utter, utter morons.

Correct. Anybody involved in fighting at football is a moron. Many of them happily grow out of it but it doesn’t alter the fact that they were morons when they were involved in it. Every single one of them, without exception. As are those who seek to excuse it.

I remember in my Uni days I used to quite like going to these late night raves. After which, everyone would pile back to someone's house for a big after party (there was often more than 100 students at these things) which would finish sometime mid-morning. Needless to say, there was a bit more than alcohol going on.

I remember travelling back home from this one party on the metro, around 8am, when a lady with her child doing the school run started making conversation with me. She reminded me of my own Mum. I instantly felt ashamed of myself. Coming down, fighting a bit of a gurn, cats eyes etc. I was shifty & nervous. I have no idea whether she cottoned on, but it had such a profound impact on me I swore to never take drugs again...

It's a long winded way of saying, I just can't fathom how these grown men can fight amongst women, children, elderly & not catch themselves on. How would they feel if their parents, grandparents, girlfriends, sisters, children etc were caught up in their mindless violence? And what's it all for?

Saw the stall on my way past. White people happily chatting and engaging with them. Shameful if even when people make an effort to distance themselves from the fundamental side they still get targeted by EDL type pricks.

What’s your point? You want a bit more if it? Why don’t you throw a few?

Next time we’re all moaning about huge sections netted off or possibly even greater restrictions if Clive Betts gets his way, remember it’s morons like that who’ll be the ones to blame.

It was Blade v Blade. As well as the old fella who got knocked flying (hope he’s ok) my 15 year old daughter took a punch. Absolute scum.
Absolute scum Nick, whatever side they're on. Hope your daughter is OK and not put off going to the lane because of this.

Anyone who has ever been involved in football violence and is in some weird way proud of it should be banned for life from all grounds. They are the lowest of the low, and need removing from football.

Whoever it was they are absolute wankers, outside the John street stand?

Police should stand at the corner of there and Bramall Lane

It’s the family stand... where I and many others sit with their children and want to feel they are safe..

And be safe after the match

I think the whole John street family stand thing should be looked at..

Some right wankers sit on there towards the away end.. offering the away fans out

I've been there mate. I once got collared by a copper while riding my bike home from a very similar after-party at about 9am on a wednesday morning. I was coming down HARD having done far too much MDMA/coke on a night out, and to be fair I was riding recklessly, on the pavement, on Sharrow Lane. The bobby was really good about it, told me to walk the rest of the way home, and even let me keep the little bit of weed I had on me because "you look like you need that to help you get some sleep."

When I eventually woke up at about 3pm that day I felt ashamed of the state I'd been in. I'm no saint, and I've had a lot of nights out, and taken a lot of drugs to enhance those nights, but some of our "fans" need to take a look at themselves and how they behave on matchdays and consider how they'd feel if they themselves had kids etc. Shameful.

Didn’t see the incident after the match, but it wasn’t too much of a surprise. Southampton’s mob / firm of about 30 / 40 were walked up John Street 10 minutes before kick off. They weren’t showing off or doing anything in fairness but a few of us were saying they’d be back on their after the game. Was expecting some sort of bother after the league cup game, nights like that always get followed up. Not saying it’s right and not condoning it at all, but it had an inevitability feeling about it as a game

Remember it well too but it was nothing like you describe.

Ok, your version probably sounds better anyway.
Ps. No shame in 'badged up' old boys getting taught a lesson by children who they're trying to bully.

I'm not sure why they bothered. From what I've seen over the past few years we don't seem to have an organised firm anymore. Just the usual groups of loose cannons. You'd have to be daft anyway given the sentences handed out these days.
