Fenerbahce team bus, under attack! The driver was injured! Do it Trabzonspor fans!

Kazarre13, one of the Fener accounts on Twitter said they'd had unconfirmed reports the driver had died. Any news on this? Hopefully it's not true.

Thoughts are with the Fenerbahce players, staff and fans.

hope the guy pulls through by the sounds of things it was only the driver who was hurt even still its a very sad day for football if this was planned by other fans/fan

Sad news. Thoughts with our friends from Fenerbahce.

Shocking Violence: Turkish soccer team Fenerbahce's team bus was reportedly shot at tonight

Fenerbahce had defeated Çaykur Rizespor 5-1 in the Super Lig earlier in the evening and were on their way to Trabzon for a flight to Turkish capitol Istanbul.

Pictures posted by the team on Twitter show blood on the ground and bullet holes in the bus window.

Gang Attack: The club says they were attacked by an armed gang while driing over a viaduct

The club tweeted a claim that: "The bus driver was the target. The psychopaths wanted to kill all of our 40 team members!"

The club's account said that the driver was in a coma but is in a critical but stable condition following the incident. A piece of metal has been found in the bus driver's temporal bone.

Of the 40 people on the bus, players Dirk Kuyt, Egemen Korkmaz, Bruno Alves, and Diego Ribas weren't on board, the club says.

None of the players on board the bus at the time were injured, and were taken to Istanbul later in the evening.

The bus was attacked on a viaduct. The club says that if it wasn't for a team member who stopped the vehicle, it could have crashed.

Uniformed police attended the incident while forensic teams in white outfits have been taking evidence from the bus itself, treating it like a crime scene.

Way Home: Moussa Sow of Fenerbahce celebrating his goal today - the attack happened after the game

Both Todays Zaman and website 101 Great Goals have alleged fans of the rival team Trabzonspor may have been involved in the attack, though this has yet to be confirmed.

There has been a strong rivalry between the two sides for a number of years.

They make it difficult to take a corner in Turkey.

That is ridiculous behaviour!
Surely some measures could have been taken before now to stamp it out?
The way the feds moved in with shields seems to be a 'solution' that has been used before, accepting it as part of the routine.
Problem is, when you let that kind of stuff happen, at some point, the hatred will reach such a level, where someone will think it a good idea to take out the entire playing staff by shooting their coach driver. Let's hope it's sorted before then.
FIFA should step in and sort it.....that's if these morons want to see their national side compete at big boys football.
Utter, utter disgrace.
