Yes quite a few of us did go and we never entertained taking a fucking Burnley flag / scarf

Listened to that on Radio Shitfield. Full time whistle blew and went to The Octagon to celebrate watching The Psychadelic Furs.

Got stuck in Barcelona for a week during the Ash Cloud debacle and stayed in a hotel run by a fanatical Espanyol fan. He absolutely hated Barca. Threw in free breakfasts every day to help us out, even though he could have sold the room many times over at a higher price.

He knew all about us and felt like a kindred spirit to me - lets face it neither of us are followed by supporters in it for the glamour.

I love Barcelona the city. I go there whenever I can. Second favourite city in all the world (After Sydney as you ask). However, I paid my homage to Barcelona FC some 20 odd years ago with my girlfriend just before I was married and (a) it was easy to get tickets for a game, (b) they were diving cheating twats, (c) there was too much polite applause (d) the catering was excellent. Great team, but it sort of says it all that ever since I have never wanted to go back to the stadium to watch them. There is a great bar in Barcelona run by Celta fans, Used to be on Carrer Merce I think it may have now moved to Princesa. Go.

I'm not sure why they have this affinity with us. Is it really down to...sorry I can't remember his name, who has a seat on the board?

It just seems incredible that they actually take our flag to a game like tonight's and I've seen numerous photo's of them raising our flag at other games.

I don't get it and can't imagne us doing the same if positions were reversed.

Must say though I think it's great to see and I've got a real liking for them as a result, hope they stuff the fake United tonight!

View attachment 20352 went to atletico last Saturday with 2 friends who have season tickets, 54 k atletico fans and 100 from granada. Much better than when I went to see real which was touristy ,this was proper fervent support , loved it. Woody loved it too :)

went last year to watch atletico beat real 3-0 , its good old fashioned passion in the vincente caldoron, best atmosphere Ive heard , outside the Lane of course

True .

Went to see Barca play Real Sociadad many moons ago and was met by massed ranks of their " fans " outside selling their tickets to the game to anyone that would buy them .

The match itself was shit and it was like a fucking morgue in there atmosphere wise too .

Barca's support and Club reeked of racism and I developed a real dislike for them after my experience there .

I went to a barca champions league match a few seasons back and had a great time. Touts-a-plenty obviously but atmosphere wise it was spot on. Don't doubt the racism thing tbh, just didn't see any myself. Wasn't particularly touristy

Certainly added some spice to the journey home on the Met tonight.......

2500 there tonight. But they are really loud.
Who'd have thought they would out sing 70k Chinese tourists.

Probably not, but one that would have been do-able would have been Burnley.

Hull 2 Burnley 0 - all other matches had been played, this was re-arranged. Hull needed to win by 3 to get promoted. They only managed 2 (in the first half) and United went up instead. Apparently quite a few Blades fans attended.
Hull's first goal was in the 2nd minute and the second goal was in the 60th minute

the commentary was from radio Dull, or some such and the guy got over excited every time Hull crossed the half way line making the listen through the 2nd half even more tense.

Only been to a Bilbao game. Incredible. The team is everything to them plus it's the best city ive been to.

Not spotted any Blades flags yet but seen a couple of quality goals.

Anyone else notice the flag with 'Sheffield' written on it at the Leicester end at the Copenhagen v Leicester match the other night?
Didn't quite catch what is said in full, though.

I'd be up for Fener, maybe a Blades trip should be sorted. Be good to see Kazarre' s crew.

Vicente cool, especially the motorway and the unusual love of Neptune... I'm off for the Valencia game in March if anyone else is in town. May make the Eibar in May. Crying shame to rip it down.

Getafe is worth a visit, especially the fans club opposite before the game. A strange affinity with Fulham but v welcoming to Brits who've gone there rather than Real and local prices of about 2 quid a pint. Real football..

Not done Real yet, wanted to do real football first..

why do we have an affinity with turks? just why?

grew up in Leeds, those turk fans weren't right cracking were they.
