Feeling gutted this morning

After weeks of losing game after game i had become almost used to it and starting to think i didn't care too much anymore, but after coming so close to our first win i woke up this morning feeling gutted at failing at the last hurdle. At least it shows that after over 60 years of following my team ,the passion is still there. UTB!

I must admit all emotions have left me recently regarding blades matches.....like an excorcism performed by reverend D Hammond, however yesterday I had the edge of the seat jitters from the 75th minute, experienced the rollercoaster of emotions only to be left flabbergasted and exhausted at full time, I, like many thought the light had gone out on our season, however yesterday I saw a flicker of hope

I feel completely the opposite. Yes it was gutting to lose the lead so close to the end, it always is, even in better times, but the fact that we had that game under control with 10 men for over 60 minutes, and then stopped them nicking it in the final seconds, reinforced my belief that we will get out of this.

That's also the loudest I have celebrated a goal all season too.

I just have a feeling that we will do quite well over Xmas. Let's hope so anyway.

If our performances over the last two matches do continue into the second half of the season and maybe even get back to the levels of last season that saw us finish in 9th, don't you think we've left it too late to get ourselves out of it?

Especially as it's never been done before from the position we are in?

Not having a go as I respect everyone's opinion but I'm just wondering what other Blades feel about this, but there is a first for everything is one way of looking at it I suppose?

It's going to be a huge ask and require us breaking a record. But I have seen what this bunch can do before with a bit of momentum, add in that I think there are plenty of teams who currently look well clear, but who are going to get dragged in (Brighton, Palace, dare I say it..Leeds) as we hit the 2nd half of the season, I just don't think we can be written off just yet.

I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking that I am in cloud cuckoo land by the way, but I have to keep believing until it's out of the question.

There is a precedent (ish). Xmas 1990 beat Forest a couple of days before Xmas to get out first win and ended staying up easily..

Ish because we’d four points from four draws. Different era, fewer teams in the league etc but not a million miles away.

Nothing has ever been done before until the first time it happens. I'd be very disappointed if Chris and the players had given up on the season already so I won't be giving up either.

Sheffield United never survive relegation fights (not in my lifetime anyway) at the best of times so 2 points out of the first 14 played will certainly be no good omen.

But as it appears the team haven't given up and still seem to be playing for CWAK let's see how far they can get themselves.

If you look at our performances and results against the bottom teams, we are still in with a chance. We should have scored at least 1 against Leeds long before that twat Bamford scored late on. Fulham should have been dead and buried by half time. WBA...... we had enough chances to win 3 games. Brighton yesterday ..... 10 men for 2/3rd of the game and soooo close to 3 points.

It's not over yet guys. However, it goes without saying, we have got to get some points on the board very soon if we are still to be in the mix come the end of season games where most of them are winnable. 7 or 8 points from the next 4 games is doable!

We need another 33 points to be in with a chance i'd say of staying up...that's 11 wins or 10 and 3 draws. There's only 24 games left and we've still to play Man C and Man U away, Liverpool home, spurs twice...so we are looking at winning every other game to stay up (more really)...its a huge ask! 7 points from the next 9 would be extremely welcome!! I think somebody could stay up this season with 30 or 31 points.

It's looking like a low tide compared to last season because the table is top heavy.

After 14 games last season, Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford all had more points than West Brom currently have.

Villa just stayed up in 17th with 35 points.

Burnley are throwing a bit of a spanner in the works at the moment because they've got two games in hand though.

Always love Blades this season’s been tough but still love them not many other teams could go through agony we have without really been successful and still have decent loyal support for a 2 club City in a congested part of the country for football clubs Sheffield’s such an underrated City it’s sad to see really I know what you mean though passion is still there even after this run it’s beyond belief really UTB
